Edith J. "Edie" Poynter Wilkins, 67, Indianapolis, died Thursday in Methodist Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, with calling from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Entombment will be in Washington Park East Mausoleum. Survivors -- husband R. Ray Wilkins; son Jerry Ray Wilkins; daughter Brenda Jane Kernodle; four grandchildren; one great-grandson.

     Cena Lillis Prather was born on 4 February 1866 at Wellsville, Franklin Co., KS.¹ She married Robert S. Pearson on 25 December 1888.¹

     Charles DeVault Prather was born on 5 March 1887 at Mt. Airy, Surry Co., NC. He was the son of Joseph Wesley Prather and Julia Frances DeVault. Charles DeVault Prather lived on 6 January 1920 at Washington, District of Columbia, with his sister Josephine Webb's family.¹ He died on 1 October 1960 at age 73.

     Lena Prather was born on 27 September 1888 at Greene Co., IL. She was the daughter of James S. Prather and Elizabeth Sophia Ferguson. Mrs. Lena Chinowth Dies Thursday At Hospital Here

Mrs. Lena Chinowth of 962 East College avenue died Thursday at 12:40 p.m. at Our Savior's hospital following an illness of several months.

Mrs. Chinowth, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Ferguson Prather, was born in Greenfield on Sept. 27, 1888. Her marriage to Harry Chinowth took place in this city in 1934.

Surviving are her husband and her mother, one sister, Miss Elsie Prather of Greenfield, a brother, Ora Prather of Elsah, Ill., two step-sons, Willard Chinowth of Centralia and Winfield Chinowth of Miami, Fla., and two grandchildren.

One sister preceded her in death.

Mrs. Chinowth was a member of Central Christian church and of Rebekah lodge, No. 13.

The body is at the Williamson Funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home here and from there the body will be taken to Greenfield where services will be held at Shields Funeral home at 3 p.m. The Rev. Roy S. Hulan will officiate at both services. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.

     Lilla Bean Prather was born on 6 November 1883 at Mt. Airy, Surry Co., NC. She was the daughter of Joseph Wesley Prather and Julia Frances DeVault. Lilla Bean Prather married Cleveland David Jarvis, son of Leander A. Jarvis and Delphia Isabell Dacons, on 13 February 1912 at Mt. Airy, Surry Co., NC, It appears this marriage ended in separation or divorce before 1930, in which census Lilla is found living with the younger children in her sister's home in Washington, DC. Lilla Bean Prather lived in April 1930 at 3179 Eighteenth Street, Washington, District of Columbia, with sister Nellie Gale's family.¹ She died on 14 January 1946 at Washington, District of Columbia, at age 62.

     Mabel Marie Prather was born on 24 September 1910. She married Elmer T. Batty on 24 December 1927 at Carrollton, Greene Co., IL. Mabel Marie Prather died on 20 October 2002 at age 92

Mabel Batty, 92, formerly of Greenfield, died early Sunday morning, Oct. 20, 2002 at White Hall Multi-Care Center.

She was born Sept. 24, 1910 in Greene County, Illinois to Luther and Cora Short Prather.

She marred Elmer T "Tub" Batty Dec. 24, 1927 in Carrollton, Illinois. He died Feb. 1, 1999.

She was a member of the Greene County Home Bureau and Extension and served as a 4-H leader for many years. She was an avid flower gardener and arranger and enjoyed doing handcrafts of all kinds.

Surviving is a daughter Betty Chinowth of Greenfield, a grandson and his wife, Kent and Sheryl Chinowth of Tulsa, OK; a granddaughter and her husband Debra and Mark Powell; two great-granddaughters, Jayne and Rachel Powell all of Greenfield; and two great-grandsons, Lee and Taylor Chinowth, both of Tulsa.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daugher, Shirley; four sisters, Hattie Pruitt, Courtney Estler, Ruth Commins, Esther Prather, four brothers, Lester, Elmer, Ebert Prather and an infant; and a son-in-law, Dick Chinowth.

Visitation will be grom 9 a.m. until time of services at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Greenfield, where she was a member.

Burial will be in Oak Wood Cemetery in Greenfield.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Greenfield.

Shields Memorial Home in Greenfield is in charge of arrangements.

Nellie Porter Prather died on 14 January 1946 at Washington, District of Columbia, at age 66.

     Thomas Franklin Prather was born on 9 August 1809 at Danbury, Stokes Co., NC. He married Charity Briggs. Thomas Franklin Prather died on 14 November 1889 at Mt. Airy, Surry Co., NC, at age 80.
