John Emmert Price was born on 28 July 1840 at Franklin Co., PA. He was the son of Jacob Baker Price and Susannah Emmert. John Emmert Price married Mary Catherine Ordeman, daughter of Capt. Herman D. Ordeman and Catharine Schmaul. John Emmert Price lived on 1 June 1880 at South Market Street, Frederick, Frederick Co., MD, Hardware merchant.1 He died in December 1909 at Frederick, Frederick Co., MD, at age 69 Obituary (Findagrave.com):
Mr. JOHN E. PRICE, a well-known resident of Frederick, where for many years he was engaged in business, died this afternoon at his home, Mont-Riant, along the Northern Central Railway, in the northeastern section of the city, of paralysis of the heart. While Mr. Price, who was a sufferer from chronic hay-fever, had been complaining recently, and yesterday had called in the family physician to treat him, his death was rather sudden.
He was born in Franklin county, Pa., July 28, 1840. He was a son of Jacob Price, who was a native and life-long resident of Franklin county, but his mother, who was Miss Susan Emmert, was a native of Washington county, Md. Mr. Price , who was the youngest of six sons of this couple, was educated at the public schools, at the Academy at Waynesboro, Pa., and at the Pennsylvania Normal School. In 1861 he received a teachers certificate, and the following year taught school near his home, but in 1863 entered the Electrical Institution at Chambersburg, Pa. to study medical electricity, and graduated in 1864. The same year he entered the U.S. Marine Services at Philadelphia, and in the following year, aboard the U.S.S. Ticoaderoga with a fleet under command of Admiral Goldsborough, went on a roving voyage in foreign waters. A series of articles by Mr. Price, describing the voyage, was published in The News last spring.
After returning from the voyage, and receiving his discharge, in 1868, Mr. Price came to Frederick and engaged in the hardware business with B.F. Stewart. In 1882, Mr. Stewart's interest in the business was continued by Messrs. Price and Ordeman, under the firm name of J.E. Price & Co., until February 1906. The firm had a successful career and won an enviable reputation in commerical circles.
In September 1872, Mr. Price married Miss Mary C. Ordeman, daughter of the late Capt. H.D. Ordeman. They had ten children, of whom two died in infancy and a third at the age of four years.
Mrs. Price and the following children survive him: Katharine Small, wife of Mr. John H. Dechert, of York, Pa; Louise Annette, wife of Mr. Raymond E. Appenzellar, of NY; Charles Smith, Grace Truscott, Maxie Emmert, Joseph Benjamin and Osborne Ingle.

John W. Price
M, b. 9 February 1823, d. 7 June 1894
John W. Price was born on 9 February 1823 at Charles Town, Berkeley (now Jefferson) Co., VA (now WV).1 He was the son of John Price and Catherine Gehr. John W. Price married Nancy Rowland, daughter of Henry Rowland and Elizabeth Hefflebaugh, on 28 February 1850 at Ogle Co., IL.1 John W. Price died on 7 June 1894 at Mt. Morris, Ogle Co., IL, at age 71 From Thirty-three Years of Missions in the Brethren Church, by Galen R. Royer, Elgen, Illinois, 1911
In the first part of the last century there lived two godly people, John and Catharine Gear Price in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. He was related to the Prices that emigrated from Germany a few generations before. About 1820 the family moved to Berkeley County, West Virginia, and settled on a farm near Charlestown, where John W. was born Feb 9, 1823. When John was a lad of 16 summers he came with his parents to Ogle County, Illinois. The family settled on a farm a few miles south of Mt. Morris, Illinois. Here the parents lived and died and here John also lived until he passed to the beyond.
School privileges were meagre those days. While a boy, John knew more about hard work than books for even in the winter until Christmas or after, he helped to thresh out wheat on the barn floor by the slow process of "tramping". After this work was done he had an opportunity to attend a few weeks of school before the spring work opened up. When he became of age he attended several terms at Rock River Seminary now known as Mt. Morris College, thus prepared he began to teach county school, continuing that work for a number of winters. Along with this he kept up his farm work in a very successful manner.
When 27 years old he and his wife confessed Christ, baptism administered within the bounds of the Rock River Congregation near Franklin Grove, Illinois. Later in 1857 when the Pine Creek congregation was formed these two were charter members transferred by the Father to the Glory World. In 1864, he was elected a deacon and served in that office for thirty years as a good man full of the spirit of faithfulness and kindness to all. In 1887 he was elected a member of the General Mission Board and served until 1892. He was a wise counsellor during those experimental days.
He was an untiring student of the Word of God, a great reader of religious literature and a regular attendant at the special Bible terms at Mt. Morris as long as he lived. It was his delight to attend Annual Meeting, drink from its overflowing spiritual fountain and was more than over joyed when permitted to return from the Meyersdale, Pa. Conference in 1894 with the glad news that the church was sending missionaries that year to foreign lands June 7, 1894. Two days after his return with the vision of enlarged church on the foreign field still vivid in his mind his spirit suddenly and quietly took its flight. His body was laid to rest in the Pine Creek Cemetery to await the resurrection morn.
Elder D. L. Miller preached his funeral sermon from Cor. 5:1.1 He was buried in June 1894 at Pine Creek Cemetery, Pine Creek Twp., Ogle Co., IL.1
