Betty Lu Padon, 83, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 with family at her side after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Betty, a resident of Albuquerque, was born December 28, 1926 in Fort Worth, TX. She graduated from Pascal High School in Fort Worth in 1944 and attended Texas Christian University. She married the love of her life Jim, on January 7, 1950. Betty was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima and Immaculate Conception parishes. One of her greatest passions was her volunteer work with St. Joseph Hospital Women's Auxiliary for over 30 years, where she served in many capacities including President. She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed golf and bridge with her many friends in her later years. But her truest passion was her family. Betty was a loving wife, an altruistic, supportive, and loving mother, and a grandmother that everyone dreams of. She was a woman we admired, have always tried to live up to, and will miss until our final day, but we know we will see her again. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, James C. Padon, Sr; daughter, Emily Padon; daughter, Patty Padon and her children, Axel and Lauren Mayhew; son, John Padon, his wife, Dejah and their children, Brittany, Ashley, Macallan, and Makena Padon; her late son Jim's wife, Susan Padon, and their children, Sara, Scott, Katie, and Beth; Jim and Susan's ten grandchildren; and many other loving family relations. She is preceded in death by her oldest son, James C. Padon, Jr; twin brother, Guy Proctor, Jr; and mother, Sula Bell Proctor. We would like to give special thanks to all her caretakers. Without you we couldn't have done it. A Memorial Rosary will be recited Sunday, December 26, 2010, 5:00 p.m., at French - University Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, December 27, 2010, 10:00 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Church, 619 Copper NW. Ennichment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
