     Elizabeth Pyrtle was born in September 1820 at Tennessee both parents born Virginia, per 1900 census info.¹ She married Samuel Washington Windle, son of Joseph Hawkins Wendel and Joanna Goad Sevier, in 1839 at Tennessee. Elizabeth Pyrtle died in June 1902 at Springfield, Greene Co., MO, at age 81 Mrs. Squire Windle died Friday in Springfield and was brought to Cuba Sunday and was buried in the Barnes Cemetery. Her husband died eight years ago. She since lived with her daughter. Obit From July 4, 1902. She was buried in July 1902 at Barnes Cemetery, Cuba, Crawford Co., MO.

     Henry Quaintance married Sarah Snyder.

     Sarah Frances Quaintance was also known as Fannie. She was born on 20 April 1849 at Rappahannock Co., VA. She was the daughter of Henry Quaintance and Sarah Snyder. Sarah Frances Quaintance married George Washington Tidler, son of Johannes Tidler and Elizabeth Windle. Sarah Frances Quaintance died on 4 December 1924 at age 75.

     Archibald Greene Qualls was born on 17 August 1907 at Tennessee. He was the son of Jasper Lee Qualls and Cora Olive Hagaman. Archibald Greene Qualls married Sheila Drew DeVault, daughter of Robert Drew DeVault and Osceola Walton, on 1 February 1930 at Johnson City, Washington Co., TN. Archibald Greene Qualls lived on 3 April 1940 at 416 Providence Road, Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co., NC, Insurance adjuster.¹ He died on 24 June 1949 at Oldtown, Forsyth Co., NC, at age 41.

     Cora Elizabeth Qualls was also known as "Betty". She was born on 22 February 1934 at Boone, Watauga Co., NC.¹ She was the daughter of Archibald Greene Qualls and Sheila Drew DeVault.¹ Cora Elizabeth Qualls married James Gray Southern, son of Chester William Southern and Rosa Ellen Law, on 10 August 1956 at Forsyth Co., NC. Cora Elizabeth Qualls and James Gray Southern were divorced on 28 June 1976 at Forsyth Co., NC. Cora Elizabeth Qualls lived in 1999 at High Point, Guilford Co., NC. She died on 12 January 2008 at Jamestown, Guilford Co., NC, at age 73

HIGH POINT -Elizabeth Qualls Southern, 73, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2008, at Evergreens of High Point.

A celebration of her life will be held 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.

Elizabeth was born in Boone, N.C., the daughter of Archibald G. and Shelia D. DeVault Qualls. She worked as a property manager for most of her working career. She retired in 2003 to Jamestown, N.C., to be close to her children and sisters.

Surviving are her children, Eric Southern and wife, Nancy of Jamestown, N.C., Katie Webb and husband, Joe and Christina Southern, all of High Point, N.C; grandchildren, Jamie Southern, Andy, Keaton, and Jordan Webb; sisters, Barbara Lynch and husband, Ben of Jamestown, N.C., Shelia Bowman of Greensboro, N.C; and brother, Robert Qualls of Albuquerque, N.M. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own.

The family will receive friends following the service on Saturday.

     Rev. Debart Labran Quarles Jr. was born on 1 December 1923 at Alabama. He was the son of Debart Labran Quarles and Florence Leona Barton. Rev. Debart Labran Quarles Jr. married Lena Earl Noland, daughter of Rheubin Kolb Noland and Rosa Windle, in 1946, no children. Rev. Debart Labran Quarles Jr. died on 23 June 1983 at Decatur, Morgan Co., AL, at age 59. He was buried in June 1983 at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Tuscaloosa Co., AL, Findagrave #116973017.

     Henry D. Quarles married Florence M. Koogler, daughter of George Franklin Koogler and Elizabeth Andrews, on 30 December 1890.

     Thomas Quarton was born on 14 June 1828 at Yorkshire, England. He married Nancy Adeline Wright on 28 December 1871 at Macoupin Co., IL. Thomas Quarton died on 8 August 1902 at Morgan Co., IL, at age 74.

     Anna Margarethe Quattelbaum was born on 19 September 1731 at Palatinate. She was the daughter of Peter Quattelbaum and Anna Maria Barbara Von Der Hutte. Anna Margarethe Quattelbaum married Moses Starr, son of James Starr and Rachel June Laybourne, in 1755 at New Jersey (probably).

     Johanna Quattelbaum was born in 1746 at Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Peter Quattelbaum and Anna Maria Barbara Von Der Hutte. Johanna Quattelbaum died in 1748.

     Johannes Quattelbaum died at Edgefield, SC. He was born on 18 February 1741/42 at Pennsylvania. He was the son of Peter Quattelbaum and Anna Maria Barbara Von Der Hutte.

     Maria Catherina Quattelbaum was born in 1730 at Palatinate. She was the daughter of Peter Quattelbaum and Anna Maria Barbara Von Der Hutte.

     Note: Peter Quattelbaum was born in 1698 in Kettwig, Rheinland (Palatinate). He was living after 1728 in Palatinate Germany. He immigrated on 19 Oct 1736 to Philadelphia, PA. From the Colonial Records of PA: "At the Courthouse of Philadelphia, Oct. 19, 1736. Thirty-seven Foreigners, from the Palatinate, who, with their Families, making in all one hundred and ten persons, were imported here in the Brigantine John, of Perth Amboy, George Frazer, Master, from Rotterdam, but last from Dover, as by Clearance thence, were this day qualified as usual". Second on the list of allegiance and on the oath of abjuration is Peter Quattelbaum. He was living in June 1739 in Berks Co., PA. His name is on a petition for a road in Oley Township in Berks Co., then Montgomery Co., PA. He was living in 1742 in Lehigh Co., PA. He was living after 1746 in Philadelphia, PA. He died on 14 Jan 1748 in Philadelphia, PA. He was Reformed Church, the Calvinist church of the Palatinate. The family moved to VA and then SC after the death of Peter Quattelbaum. According to M. M. Quattlebaum, Peter was the only Quattelbaum to emigrate from Germany between 1700-1800 and all Quattlebaums in the U.S. come from his family and his 3 sons.

In his signature, he spelled his name "Petter". Peter and his children spelled their surname "Quattelbaum", however the third generation generally adopted "Quattlebaum" which has been used since. The name is derived from the old German word for a prune plum "quattel", and the German word for tree, "baum".

He was married to Ann Maria Barbara Von Der Hutte on 11 Apr 1723 in Kettwig, Rheinland, Prussen. Next to the "von der Hutte" name is written "Herkendall", indicating that the Hutte and Herkendall houses were the same family.

Ann Maria Barbara Von Der Hutte was born in 1702 in Palatinate, Germany. Peter Quattelbaum and Ann Maria Barbara Von Der Hutte had the following children:
