     GERTRUDE DAWALT, 85, Salem, died Sunday, Oct. 10, at Heritage House.
     She was a retired employee of the old Williams Garment Co. and a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
     Survivors include two sisters, Lucille Brough and Beatrice Coomer.
     Services were conducted Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Weathers Funeral Home with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery.

          Gertrude Dawalt
     Gertrude Dawalt, 85, Salem, died at 12:05 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at Heritage House of Salem.
     She was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church and was a retired employee of the old Williams Garment Company.
     She was born March 2, 1914, in Washington County, to John Sr. and Ida Belle Fleenor Ray.
     Her husband, John Dawalt, preceded her in death. A brother, John W. Ray Jr., and a sister, Pauline Short, also preceded her in death. Survivors include: two sisters, Lucille Brough, Salem, and Beatrice Coomer, New Albany.
     Visitation was set for after 8 a.m. Tuesday at Weathers Funeral Home in Salem.      Funeral services were set for 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery, Salem.
     Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

She was buried in October 1999 at Crown Hill Cemetery, Salem, Washington Co., IN.
