Cecil was a third great-grandson of Gabriel Davault and Mildred was a second great-granddaughter of Valentine "Felty" Davault. Cecil and Mildred were fourth cousins once removed.

Mrs. Mildred Reeves "Mammy" King, 91, 711 Sunset Drive, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. King was a lifelong resident of Washington County and a daughter of the late James M. Reeves Jr. and Ola Bertha Boyd Reeves.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church, where she served 36 years in Sunday school, the nursery and the day-care center.

Mrs. King was a former member of Snow's Chapel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Edward "Pappy" King, in 1977; and by twin son and daughter, Jimmy Reeves King and Nancy Elizabeth Penesk.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ann King Taylor, of the home; one sister, Elsie Reeves Sell, Johnson City; two granddaughters, Ann Arwood, Mebane, N.C., and Wendy Elizabeth Penesk, Pensacola, Fla; five great-grandchildren, Roger Miller II, Scott Taylor and Luke Willis, all of Johnson City, and Chris Arwood and Leslee Arwood, both of Mebane; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Reeves "Mammy" King, 91, 711 Sunset Drive, who died Sunday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday in Central Baptist Church. The Rev. R. Willard Warfield and Dr. Ronald E. Murray will officiate. Family and friends will meet in Monte Vista Burial Park at 11 a.m. Friday for the graveside service. Pallbearers will be grandsons and Phillip Dickerson, Joe Hartley and Bill Sell. Pallbearers are requested to meet at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the cemetery. The body will be placed in the church Thursday afternoon where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. prior to the service.

Mrs. King was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Janice Taylor Willis. She is also survived by two great-great-grandchildren, Jacob Cameron Miller and Ashley Rebecca Lynn Miller, both of Johnson City; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ruth King Hartley, Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews. Woodall-Anderson Funeral Home, 108 W. Watauga Ave., Johnson City, is in charge of arrangements.

Cause of death: He had stayed in a soldier's home, at Grant County, Indiana, for TB, and morphine addiction. Paul died of head injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

BULLS GAP -- Rhoda Beatrice Simcox of Bulls Gap, died at Memorial Hospital yesterday evening after an extended illness.

Mrs. Simcox was a native of Johnson City and was the daughter of the late John D. and Rhoda Taylor Reeves. She was a niece of former governors Bob and Alf Taylor.
She was a teacher in Johnson City at the old Barton School and at Princeton School prior to moving to Bulls Gap in 1911. She was a member of Bulls Gap Methodist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Fleming, Sacramento, Calif; Mrs. Albert Middleton, San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Hobert Rice, Knoxville; two brothers, E. C. Reeves, Abingdon, Va., and John D. Reeves, Johnson City; two sisters, Mrs. J. W. Sensabaugh, Knoxville, and Mrs. Roland Craig, Abingdon, Va; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Willie Robeson Reeves, formerly of Johnson City, died in Siloam Springs, Ark., last night.

She was a native of Johnson City and attended public schools here.

Miss Reeves was a graduate of Martha Washington College in Abingdon, Va. She took special courses at the University of Chicago, and at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. She was a former teacher at Science Hill High School and also taught in the Knoxville school system. She had taught nine years in a girl's high school in Atlanta.

She was the daughter of the late Elbert Clay and Alice Robeson Reeves and was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include one brother, Stanley, of Charlottesville, Va.
