Margaret Evelyn Rundell married Frank Wallace Lightner, son of John Henry Lightner and Marvel Isabella Long, on 27 July 1937 at Pierceville, Finney Co., KS. Margaret Evelyn Rundell died on 4 November 2008 at age 92 Margaret E. Lightner, 92, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Finney County.

She was born Feb. 5, 1916, in Ford County, to Ira B. and Mada M. Newell Rundell. The family lived on a farm near Bucklin and moved later that year to a farm in Finney County, near Pierceville, where she spent her childhood. She attended New Hope Grade School, graduated from Pierceville High School in 1933 and graduated from Salt City Business College in Hutchinson.

On July 27, 1937, she married Frank W. Lightner at the rural Pierceville home of her parents. He died Sept. 27, 2000. She also was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Lee Lightner; her parents; her stepmother, Grace M. Rundell; an infant sister; two brothers, Boyd and Gale Rundell; and a sister, Thelma M. Cronin.

A lifelong resident of southern Finney County, living near Plymell, Mrs. Lightner was a homemaker and business partner of Lightner Welding Supply and had worked as a secretary in the Finney County Farm Bureau Office. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Plymell Union Church, Finney County Historical Society and the Kansas Quilting Guild. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting and reading, and she taught quilting classes in her home for many years and attended quilting seminars across the state. She also was an avid member of the YMCA Aquasize group.

Survivors include a son, Lynn Lightner of Garden City; a granddaughter; two great-granddaughters; a sister, Ruth Richards of Garden City; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

She was buried in November 2008 at Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, Finney Co., KS.

     Marilyn Joyce Rundell was born on 13 March 1936 at Finney Co., KS.¹ She was the daughter of Ira Boyd Rundell and Helen Kathleen Buhrle.¹ Marilyn Joyce Rundell married Rev. Arthur L. Peterson, son of Arthur W. Peterson and Elvina Victoria Olson, on 20 September 1958. Marilyn Joyce Rundell died on 16 June 2007 at Knob Noster, Johnson Co., MO, at age 71.
