George Washington Rosenberger, 80, died at his home at Smith Creek after a long illness.
He was the second son of George and Margaret (Zirkle) Rosenberger, and was a brother of Edmond Rosenberger, Mrs. Jacob Price, and Mrs. Jacob Strickler. On Oct. 16, 1845 he married Barbara A. Kagey, who died June 22, 1887.
They had 8 children: Tazwell, Jacob, Ketura, Florence, Martha (Mrs. C. F. Myers), Russell, Georgia and Charles. On August 22, 1892 he married his first wife’s sister, Amelia J. Kagey. In 1889 he fell, dislocating his left hip, and fell again 10 years later.
The immediate cause of death was heart trouble and paralysis. He was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran church. The funeral took place in New Market at the church.
