Mrs. Cora B. Kitzmiller, 87, of Clinton died at 11:20 p.m. yeaterday in the Pinecrest Nursing Home in Clinton.
She was a seamstress for the Williams Fashion Shop in Decatur for several years.
Mrs. Kitzmiller was born at Assumption on Feb. 9, 1876, the daughter of John and Nancy Jacobs Salmon.
She married Hardy W. Kitzmiller in Decatur on June 27, 1906.
Mrs. Kitzmiller had been in ill health for 10 years.
She leaves two brothers, George Salmon, Decatur; Urban Salmon, Los Angeles, Calif; and one sister, Mrs. Etta Griffin, Clinton.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Herington Funeral Home in Clinton where friends may call after 2 p.m. today. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Assumption.

Clarence Salter

SALEM – February 1937 – June 2021


SP6 Army Specialist Clarence Salter, 84, passed away unexpectedly with his wife by his side at their home in Salem, OR on June 7th, 2021.

Clarence was a decorated veteran who served for 20 years and fought in the Korean and Vietnam wars. During Clarence’s time in the military, he met, fell in love with, and got married to Dorene Trefethen. After they reetired from the military, Clarence and Dorene settled in Jefferson, OR, where their family grew with their three children, Yolanda, Vickie, and Elwin. Wanting to continue his civil service, Clarence worked his way up in the fire department to eventually become the fire chief in Jefferson. He also worked for a short time as a patrol officer in the Jefferson Police Department. Clarence and Dorene later found themselves moving up to Washington and settled in the town of Vaughn where Clarence worked for Glory, a banking equipment maintenance company. During this time in Washington, Clarence and Dorene opened their doors and hearts to almost 50 foster children.

After Dorene’s passing in 2007, Clarence continued his passion for meeting new people and spending time with others. He helped with different church activities and served in food banks near his Vaughn home. Through internet correspondence, and many trips up and down I-5, he met and married his second wife, Joan Wilson, in September of 2009. After getting married, Clarence and Joan settled in Salem, OR, and spent the last 10 years enjoying each other’s company.

Clarence is survived by his daughter Yolanda and his son Elwin. He is also survived by Joan’s children, Marc, Michael, and Melinda. Clarence has several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Clarence Salter held at Restlawn Funeral Home, on Thursday, June 24th at 1 PM. Family, friends, and flowers are welcome. GRAY -- Delmar Ronald Salts, Route 2, Jonesboro, died Saturday morning at Holston Valley Community Hospital.

Born and reared in Sullivan County, he was a member of Wheeler United Methodist Church, the Gray Community Optimist Club, and East Tennessee Angus Association and was a past president of Gray Community Chest.

He was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration at Tri-City Airport.

Florence M. Forney, 89, of 1644 Baltimore Pike, Hanover, died Monday, Oct. 22, at the Gettysburg Village Green Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late Claude L. Forney, who died in 1980.
Born Dec. 29 1900, in West Manheim Township, York County, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mandella (Heil) Saltzgiver.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and the Sunday school class. She was an employee of the Hanover Shoe Co., where she retired in 1965 after 15 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Louise Williams and Shirley Mickley, both of Hanover; a son, Levere Forney of Union Bridge, Md; two brothers, George Saltzgiver and Clark Saltzgiver, both of Hanover; two sisters, Irene Warehime and Arlene Haines, both of Hanover; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, with the parish pastor, the Rev. Luther G. Heist Jr., officiating. Interment will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Deceased are a daughter, Judy Kay McCombs; a sister, Virginia Makins; and a great-grandson.

She worked for Helping Hands as a Home Health Aide, retiring in 2002. She was a member of First Missionary Church. She served in the ministry alongside her husband, Robert, for almost 30 years.

Services will be at First Missionary Church, Lima, with the Rev. Dr. Timothy White officiating.

Abigail Ann Salyers married George Freddrick Will on 18 January 1957 at Arlington Co., VA, Abigail falsely gave her age as 17 on the marriage license application. This falsification was later the basis for annulment of the marriage, due to lack of parental consent as required for a 14-year old.

Abigail Ann Salyers and George Freddrick Will were divorced on 14 May 1957 at Arlington Co., VA; ; annulment for failure to obtain parental consent when marrying at the age of 14. Divorce record shows the date of separation was January 19 (the day after the marriage), and there were no children. Divorce was granted to wife and was not contested. Fred late married Dreama Jean Bowling (1946 - 1996.)

Robert (Bob) Salyers

Louisville - Robert (Bob) King Salyers, Jr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 with his loved ones by his side.

He was born on July 26, 1944 to the late Robert King Salyers, Sr. and Loretta Salyers. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Abigail Salyers.

Bob was a lawyer practicing in the field of Real Estate. He was a 1967 Graduate of Western KY University and a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and 1970 Graduate of the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. He was an Air Force Veteran and an avid U of L fan and supporter.

Bob loved life and everyone in it. He never met a stranger and treated everyone the same no matter their role in life. He was a kind and generous man.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Salyers; a sister, Martha Salyers and husband David Hurand; niece, Georgia Will and husband Kent Lulewich; brother-in-law, Jeff Gardner; nephews, Gates and wife Megan, Miles and Clay Hurand, great nephews, Arthur and Kieran.

He is also survived by his in-laws, Steve and Linda Ballard, Carol and Phil Ballard and Gerard and Judi Ballard; nieces and nephews, Jude and Kim Ballard, Jennifer and Ryan Brown, Paula and Jason Boles, Walter and Amanda Ballard and Bridget Ballard, and the little ones, Sophie, Lilly, Evelyn, Ryan and Will. Special friends, the McGlincy, Edelen and Shanchuk families and Paul Baker. A special thanks to Gretchen Houchin, for her guidance, love and support and the staff at the Nazareth Home.

Guests are invited to attend a visitation from 2-8 pm on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd.

William L. Salyers, 66, of Louisville, formerly of Lexington, an inspector for the Jefferson Quartermaster Depot, died Saturday in Cleveland, Ohio, as the result of a heart attack. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Kipping funeral home in Carrollton, followed by interment in the Carrollton cemetery.

Mr. Salyers had been in Cleveland for a month in connection with his government duties.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sara Howe Salyers; three sons, Lt. Robert K. Salyers, United States Navy, Long Island, former state National Youth Administration head; Lt. James R. Salyers and Cpl. David H. Salyers, both overseas with the United States Army; one daughter, Mrs. R.A. Hays, Jefferson county, and three grandchildren. The Salyers resided in Lexington until four years ago.
