Services Held Wednesday For John Schreiner

Funeral services for John Schreiner, who died Sunday evening at the Plainview hospital, were held Wednesday afternoon at the home at 1:30 and at the Plainview Methodist church at two o’clock. Rev. C. R. Tanner officiated.

John W. Schreiner, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Schreiner was born at Peru, Illinois, June 30, 1880, the seventh of 14 children, and passed away November 9, 1952 at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 9 days.

He moved with his parents to Burr, Nebraska and from there to a farm in Pierce County.

On March 23, 1905 he was united in marriage to Miss Nellie Lingenfelter. This union was blessed with 5 children. Two, Frances Marie and Myron David, passed away in infancy.

Mr. Schreiner had been in failing health for the past two years. Early Saturday morning he suffered a stroke and was brought to the Plainview hospital that afternoon where he passed away the next evening.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife; one son, Frank, of Plainview, two daughters, Mrs. Ferd Weinrich of Plainview, and Mrs. Harvey Frink of Creighton; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Gus, of Sutherland, Iowa; other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and seven sisters and two children.

Burial was in the Pleasant View cemetery at Plainview with his nephews, Bob Schreiner, George Schreiner, Ora Schreiner, Les Weber, Roy Schreiner, and Forest Schreiner as pallbearers.

He was buried in November 1952 at Pleasant View Cemetery, Plainview, Pierce Co., NE, Findagrave #163536209.

     Louise A. Schreiner was born on 6 February 1889 at Otoe Co., NE. She was the daughter of George Schreiner and Julia Haag. Louise A. Schreiner married John Thomas Lingenfelter, son of David Cline Lingenfelter and Mary E. Gallagher, on 3 January 1906. Louise A. Schreiner died on 22 May 1943 at Norfolk, Madison Co., NE, at age 54. She was buried in May 1943 at Pleasant View Cemetery, Plainview, Pierce Co., NE, Findagrave #63099679.

     Dr. Mabel Scott Schreiner was born on 9 August 1873.¹ She was the daughter of John H. Schreiner and Adelaide Baugh Cress.¹

     Maude N. Schreiner was born on 23 May 1876 at Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co., PA.¹ She was the daughter of John H. Schreiner and Adelaide Baugh Cress.¹ Maude N. Schreiner married Martin Julius Kruming on 1 August 1900.¹

     Catherine Schreyer was born on 7 October 1746. She married Heinrich Bishop in 1764 at Lancaster Co. (probably), PA. Catherine Schreyer died in July 1836 at Huntington Twp., Ross Co., OH, at age 89.

     Louis Edward Schrode was born on 15 September 1915 at Great Falls, Cascade Co., MT.¹ He was the son of Scott Schrode and Anna Myrtle Barker.¹ Louis Edward Schrode married Dorothy Mae Fuller, daughter of Allen W. Fuller and Josie Vaughn. Louis Edward Schrode began military service on 25 June 1941 at Chicago, Cook Co., IL, WW II service, U.S. Army, enlisted. He died on 17 September 1992 at Oak Park, Cook Co., IL, at age 77.

     Scott Schrode was born on 21 August 1884 at Indiana.¹ He married Anna Myrtle Barker on 2 February 1912 at Spencer Co., IN. Scott Schrode lived on 20 January 1920 at Jackson Twp., Spencer Co., IN, farming.¹ He died in November 1976 at Monmouth, Warren Co., IL, at age 92.

     Sophie Schroder was born on 23 April 1877. She was the daughter of Bernard Schroder and Mary (?) Sophie Schroder married Herbert Price, son of Abraham D. Price and Mary W. Jones, on 1 September 1918, Ceremony by Rev. Charles Barnes
