William Schooley, 86, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Windsor Place.
Mr. Schooley was born on October 22, 1924 in Miami, Oklahoma to Henry and Kathryn Schooley. He grew up in the Coffeyville area where he attended local schools. William served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years as a Signalman.
On January 26, 1946 he was united in marriage to Mae Rue Harrison in Coffeyville, Kansas where the couple made their home. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2000.
William worked for the Coffeyville Police Department as a detective for 22 years. He enjoyed wood working and fishing. He enjoyed his job as well as time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Garbo and husband, Joseph of Troy, Missouri; son, Richard Schooley of Coffeyville; grandsons, James and Shane and a great-grandson, Cole.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Kathryn; his loving wife, Mae Rue and two sisters, Irene White and Mary Abbott.

He was buried in June 2011 at Restlawn Memorial Park, Coffeyville, Montgomery Co., KS.

COPPERAS COVE — Family graveside services for Elnora Estelle Falkenberg, 87, of Belton, formerly of Copperas Cove, will be Wednesday in Copperas Cove City Cemetery.

Mrs. Falkenberg died Saturday, Feb. 20, in a Belton nursing home.

She was born on March 15, 1922, to Walter and Julia Schorn in Killeen. She was a longtime resident of this area. She worked as a beautician and was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Copperas Cove. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Falkenberg, on March 13, 1985.

Survivors include three sons, Ronald Falkenberg of Huntsville, Gary Falkenberg of Galveston and Terry Falkenberg of Copperas Cove; a daughter, Sharon Vann of Copperas Cove; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove.

Harry was the third-born in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania to Johannn Heinrich Schornstein and Rosa Banks Schornstein born in Eckley, Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania. John Henry immigrated from Germany Oct 22, 1880 arriving in the Port of New York. He became a naturalized U.S. citizen Sep 29, 1890.

Family lore has it that Harry left home for good with just an 8th grade education. He always referred to himself as the family "prodigal son" in his letters back to his mother. He joined the Navy as a machinist operator and they eventually sent him to M.I.T. where he finished his education and received training as an engineer. He became an Ensign while in the Navy.

He married Katherine Barnes Frederick on Apr 28, 1919 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was trained as an engineer, but he began working in the insurance industry right after he got married. They eventually moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where he became manager of the New Amsterdam Casualty Co. They had three children together: Harry E. Jr., William Jay who died as an infant, and Dave Wilbur.

Katherine died by suicide in 1949, age 55. Harry remarried shortly thereafter to Beulah Hartley in Ft. Wayne, Indiana Jun 22, 1950. They eventually retired together to the Tampa Bay area and Harry died of heart attack while playing golf on Apr 9, 1971. He donated his body to the University of Florida College of Medicine and his ashes were eventually spread over the Gulf of Mexico.

Hal was the founder of Industrial Sales & Engineering Co., where he worked for 39 years, retiring in 1994. He was a Navy fighter pilot in World War II. Mr. Schornstein was a graduate of Purdue University in mechanical engineering. He was a member Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, the Junto Club of Indianapolis, Meridian Hills Country Club, the John Purdue Club, Sky Vu Flyers, American Legion Post 34 and the Indiana Camber of Commerce. Funeral services will be held Wednesday for a 26-year-old Clare man who died of self inflicted gun-shot wounds Sunday, Stephen W. Scott (sic) died Sunday night at Clare Osteopathic Hospital shortly after the shooting at his home on East Dunlop Road.

Michigan State Police said they were called to the Dunlop residence Sunday afternoon on a complain of a man with a shotgun.

Authorities said he was in a barn with the doors tied shut. When they opened the doors he allegedly pointed he shotgun at them.

Police talked to Scott for more than 90 minutes before he fatally shot himself. No other shots were fired.

He was born November 8, 1954 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of Clarence W. and Virginia Scott.

He married Morene Crawford on July 5, 1980 in Clare. Stephen came to Clare in 1976 from Houghton Lake and worked for the Clare Public School as a bus mechanic.

He was a member of the Farwell and Lake CBer's Club.

He is survived by his wife Morene of Clare, 2 brothers, Donald E. of California, William Joseph of Ohio, a sister, LeeAnn Scott of Ohio and his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Harley Bogg of Ohio.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. in the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Rosa officiating.
