Sibyl Borem, 98, of St. Simons Island, GA, passed away Friday, October 8, 2010, at Hospice of the Golden Isles. A native of Fisher, Illinois, Mrs. Borem was born on October 20, 1911 to the late Roy Sheffer and the late Marsha Wormeldoff Sheffer, and had been a resident of Glynn County since 1984. She was a faithful member of the St. Simons United Methodist Church. Mrs. Borem was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and the UMW Circles. The Church and Church members were a vital part of her life. She never refused to make a dish when needed for Church activities, receptions, or funeral meals. She was always willing to give devotion and being hostess. Even when she was bound to a walker Mrs. Borem worked at MAP packing boxes. She served on the Mission Committee and initiated the Committee in supporting the Red Bird Mission. Mrs. Borem volunteered her services in the Church office for a number of years. She helped to get the prayer chain started and kept it going. Mrs. Borem was a faithful believer in prayer. She enjoyed going places with the seniors and to the Walk to Emmaus events. Mrs. Borem was a homemaker and will be remembered by everyone as always smiling, extremely faithful, supportive, strong in her faith, having a great love for God, Church, and family.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Borem was preceded in death by her husband Tillman James Borem, a son James Borem, and a daughter Marcia Jane Borem.
Survivors include her two sons, Denzil Borem of Berwick, PA and David Borem of Ashburn, GA; four daughters, Betty Borem Rainford of Romney, IN, Judy Borem Noble of St. Simons Island; Carolyn Borem of Brunswick, and Emma Borem Alkire of Stilesville, IN; a daughter-in-law, Delores Borem of Gallitin, TN; 21 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; 12 great great-grandchildren; and 5 nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be Monday, October 11, 2010 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of the St. Simons United Methodist Church with the Reverend Benjy Varnell officiating.
A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 11 AM at the Oakland Cemetery in Morocco, Indiana.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Pal Noble, Mitchell Noble, Mason Noble, Matt Noble, Mark Noble and Vince Noble.
The family request memorial contributions to be made to the Hospice of the Golden Isles 1692 Glynco Parkway Brunswick, GA 31520.
Arrangements are entrusted to Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, GA.
