Bret loved life, his family and his friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, hiking, camping, biking, photography, making chain mail jewelry, playing disc golf and playing on the "Preemptive Strike" softball team.
He volunteered at the VA Medical Center and at the Crisis Center helping to clean up after the tornado. He was a unique, creative, sensitive individual,with a kind and beautiful soul.
His family includes his mother, Joann of Iowa City, brother, Scott Bender and his wife, Santwana Dasgupta of Minneapolis, Minn; sisters Sarah and Kathleen Bender of Iowa City; his father and stepmother William and Heidi Bender of Viroqua, Wis; his half siblings, John Buck and Logan and Tara Bender; nephew, Alexander Baker-Bender; grandfather Harold Harger of St. Louis, Mo; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
Bret was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bernard and Emma Lou Bender and Pauline Harger.

She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of New Oxford and formerly a member of Littlestown Senior Center.
Ida was the widow of Samuel Balzanna, Jr., who died in 1978, and is survived by two sons, Ralph E. Balzanna, Sr. of Hanover, and Samuel W. Balzanna of Oklahoma; a daughter, Sandra L. Shoop of Littlestown; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Bendt of Baltimore.
She was predeceased by three sisters and a brother.
Interment was in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg.
She was buried in March 2010 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg, Carroll Co., MD, Findagrave #49404862.

Ida I. Balzanna, of Hanover and formerly of Littlestown, departed this life early on the morning of March 7, 2010.
Born December 21, 1917, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Amelia (Diegel) Bendt.
Ida retired in 1971 from Westinghouse of Baltimore.
She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of New Oxford and formerly a member of Littlestown Senior Center.
Ida was the widow of Samuel Balzanna, Jr., who died in 1978, and is survived by two sons, Ralph E. Balzanna, Sr. of Hanover, and Samuel W. Balzanna of Oklahoma; a daughter, Sandra L. Shoop of Littlestown; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Bendt of Baltimore.
She was predeceased by three sisters and a brother.
Interment was in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg.
She was buried in March 2010 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg, Carroll Co., MD, Findagrave #49404862.

Achsah Bell Bendure

Achsah Bell Bendure was born on 18 April 1840 at Smyrna Twp., Harrison Co., OH. She was the daughter of David Bendure and Sarah Barge.1 Achsah Bell Bendure married Brice Bartholow, son of Lemuel Barthalow and Tacy Dicken, on 22 November 1855 at Tuscarawas Co., OH. Achsah Bell Bendure died on 18 June 1860 at Atlanta Twp., Logan Co., IL, at age 20.
