Born at Raub, she spent all her life in this community. In 1896 she married Josiah Portteus, who died in 1953.

Mrs.Portteus was a life member of the Raub Methodist church.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs.Stanley Guard of Raub, & Mrs.C.Allen Minor, of Azusa, Calif; a son, Harold of Raub; & a sister, Mrs.Mae Goshorn of Terre Haute.

ERNESTINE MAE SHOOP BUHARP SMITH, 93, of Hagerstown, MD, a resident of Ravenwood Lutheran Village, was born on July 16, 1922. Ernestine entered her everlasting life to be with her Lord and Savior on August 16, 2015 and to join her husband, Curvin Smith, mother Jane N. Shoop, father, Clarence L. Shoop, her three brothers, William Shoop, Roger Shoop and twin brother Eugene Shoop.

She is survived by four daughters; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great, great grandson.

Ernestine was born in Hagerstown, had lived in Downsville, MD before moving back to Hagerstown. She was of the Brethren faith.

Her service will be at the Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Paul Wolfe Shope and Helen Jeanne McKibben were divorced in June 1976 at San Diego Co., CA. Paul Wolfe Shope married Helen Jeanne McKibben, daughter of Neal Lester McKibben and Helen Kathryn Griffitts, on 14 February 1984 at San Diego Co., CA.
