She was born on 29 April 1867 at Jefferson Twp., Johnson Co., IA, death certificate shows 1868 but she was already three years old as of the 1870 census.1 She was the daughter of David Edwin Silver and Sarah Jane Tallman. Saraph Glanville Silver married George W. Potter on 25 December 1902 at Johnson Co., IA; George first married Myrtle Stella Anderson on 15 JAN 1896 at Western, Linn County. That marriage apparently broke up shortly after the June 1900 census, with no children. She remarried to David Dalton and had at least three children with him.

Saraph Glanville Silver died on 17 September 1940 at Linn County Home, near Marion, Linn Co., IA, at age 73. She was buried in September 1940 at Cedar Memorial Park, Cedar Rapids, Linn Co., IA, Findagrave #203898839.

Vivian Yvonne Silver, 81, of Central City, Iowa, passed away at her home on Sunday, August 12, 2018.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 12 – 3 pm. on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at American Legion Wapsie Post #421 in Central City.

Vivian was born February 2, 1937, in Coggon, Iowa, the daughter of Stewart and Dorothy (Moyer) Silver. She was a 1955 graduate of Central City High School.

Vivian was employed at Hy-Vee in the bakery and at AMPI hauling milk.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Central City and Jordans Grove Baptist Church in Central City. She enjoyed going to the school dressed up as Mrs. Claus or the Tooth Fairy. She loved sewing, her pets, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Brad (Jeannie Dunham) Price, Rona Price, and Darren Price; grandsons, Dustin, Derick, and Dalton; and great-grandchildren, Daiton, RaeLynn, and Daceyn.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ron Silver.

Alpha Lee Silvers married John Lewis Hansard before April 1940. Alpha Lee Silvers and John Lewis Hansard were divorced before 1954. Alpha Lee Silvers married Hargis Harlan Day in 1955. Alpha Lee (Silvers) [Hansard] Day was born December 12, 1912 in Lawrenceville, Indiana and passed away August 8, 2014 in Bellflower, California. Her birth date of 12/12/12 was a great source of pride. She was the daughter of Fred and Bess Silvers. At the age of five, Alpha moved to Oklahoma. In 1931, she graduated from Healdton High School and in 1935 received her BA from Oklahoma State University. She moved to California in 1945 with her mother and daughter and worked at General Electric as part of the war effort. She taught high school home economics in Bellflower, California for over 25 years before retiring in 1977. Alpha was an active member in several clothing and wearable arts associations including the Embroidery Guild Association in Long Beach and Palos Verdes, California. An artist in her own right, she taught creative adult education in the arts for many years and won numerous awards for her work. She never stopped teaching and learning and was an inspiration and mentor to her closest friends. She was very proud that she traveled to over 43 countries to study textiles and embroidery. She was truly a lady and a good will ambassador wherever she went. Learning about different cultures was a joy in her life.

Floyd was born to Fred and Bess Silvers during the oil boom. He graduated from Oklahoma A&M (OSU) with his wife, Oleta (Jones), and they were married for 67 years having two daughters. During World War II, Floyd worked at the Douglas Aircraft factory in Tulsa and then at the Oklahoma Ordnance Works in Pryor. After teaching school for a short time, Floyd joined C-E Natco (National Tank) and worked with them for 30 years.

He was buried in April 2003 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, Tulsa Co., OK, Findagrave #107874312.
