SIMSHAUSER, E. D. "Dave"
79, of Springfield passed away Wednesday, July 30-2014, at Good Shepherd Village. He was born March 8-1935, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the son of Ernest C. and Mary (Waldron) Simshauser. Dave had honorably served in the United States Air Force and was retired from General Electric, where he worked as an IT Professional and Manager. He was a lifetime member of DAV and a member of the Board of Elections for the last ten years. He enjoyed fishing and sailing.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Jane (Schildknecht) Simshauser; six children, Davina (Jack) Smith of Rockville, MD, John (Kim) Simshouser of Alpharetta, GA, Barbette Houser of Athens, GA, Michelle Simshauser, Michael Simshauser, and Mark Simshauser, all of Maryland; two step-children, Lori (James) Farley and Jeff Wheldon of Springfield; grandchildren, Waker and Eva Houser, Faye and Jack Simshauser, and Mia Abresch; step-granddaughter, Brittany Wheldon; two step-great grandchildren, Brianna and Grayson; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Maxine Schildknecht of Naples, FL; and nieces, Kelly Gannon and Pam Boothe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Michael Houser; and step-grandson, Casey Farley.

The family would like to thank Community Mercy Hospice and the staff at Good Shepherd Village for the wonderful care they gave Dave. As per Dave's wishes, he will be cremated and the family will have a memorial service at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Mercy Hospice. Arrangements are being handled by the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME.
