CAROLINE SLACK
A service to celebrate the life of Caroline Slack was held Nov. 4 at St. James Episcopal Church in Coquille. Ms. Slack died on Oct. 29 in Kirkland, Washington, of cancer.
Ms. Slack was born on Nov. 7, 1963 in Myrtle Point. She attended elementary and high school in Coquille and graduated in 1982. In 1986, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in fashion merchandising from Oregon State University. While in college, she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
Ms. Slack loved children and water sports, and as a teenager she was a swimming instructor and life guard at the Coquille Swimming Pool. After graduating from college, she worked for the Bon Marché. She spent six years managing various departments in the North Bend store and for the last two years she worked as an assistant buyer in the Bon's corporate office in Seattle. Ms. Slack was especially loved for her vivacious personality, for the straight forward responses, for her sense of personal style, and for the sweet and caring nature of her character.
Ms. Slack is survived by her beloved partner, Rod Russell of Renton, Washington; parents, Harry and [step-mother] JoAnne Slack of Coquille; sister and brother-in-law, Helen Slack Miller and Eddie Miller, and nieces Lauren and Hannah Miller, of Portland; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Claudia Slack, and nephews, Andrew and Sam Slack, of Coos Bay; step-sister, Laura Berryhill and step-brother, Bob Berryhill, both of Eugene; grandmother, Kathryn Slack, of Myrtle Point; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and many close friends. Ms. Slack was preceded in death by her mother, Marion Moore Slack, in 1982.
Ms. Slack's family suggests that donations in her memory may be made to Evergreen Hospice Center, 12822 124th Lane, N.E., Kirkland, WA 98034; or to South Coast Hospice, 1620 Thompson Road, Coos Bay OR 97420.
Arrangements were through Amling/Schroeder Funeral Service.

Caroline packed a lot into her brief time with us. She loved cats and children and was a fashionista-extraordinaire. Caroline was a joy. If you knew her, you loved her. She fought as hard as she could before a brain tumor finally claimed her. She is missed so very much.

He left a will on 26 July 1869. He died after 26 July 1869 at Tazewell Co., IL.
