Mrs. Matilda Eva Parrett, 99, perhaps Wabash County's oldest resident, died at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Dunfee Nursing Home. Mrs. Parrett had been in failing health for 10 years.

She was born Nov. 15, 1858, in Jay County, the daughter of Anthony and Mary (Farrington) Slay. Her first marriage was to William Irey who died in 1894. She later married Joseph L. Parrett, Civil War veteran, who died in December of 1928.

The decedent had lived in Wabash for 42 years and was a member of the Nazarene Church.

Survivors include one son, Waldo Parrett, Wabash; three daughters, Mrs. Lester Grim, Kalamazoo, Mich., Mrs. Phillip Lintner and Mrs. Claude Rife, both of Wabash; two step-daughters, Mrs. Cora Bowers, Wabash and Mrs. Ada Ingram, Marion; 35 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. One son, four daughters, two step-sons, one step-daughter and three brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of the Eddingfield Mortuary with the Rev. Jesse Martin officiating. #Burial will be in Falls Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

She was buried in April 1958 at Falls Memorial Gardens, Wabash, Wabash Co., IN.
