WILTON, Iowa – Wilbert “Bill” E. Spengler, 81, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at his home.
Mr. Spengler was born June 9, 1929 in Davenport, the son of Wilber and Noalma Nelson Spengler. He married Shirley J. Moubry Doyle March 26, 1955, in Muscatine.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Durant American Legion Post No. 430 and the NRA.
He collected guns and enjoyed restoring and collecting antique autos. He loved animals, especially his cats Maggie and Molly.
He worked at Farmer’s Grain and Lumber, in Sunbury, while owning and operating Bill’s Tavern in Sunbury.
He later worked as a welder at Durant Fabricating and Wendling Quarries.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton.
Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Durant American Legion.
Memorials may7 be made to the Durant American Legion in his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Spengler.
He was buried in December 2010 at Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton, Muscatine Co., IA, Findagrave #91971743.

The will of the late Caroline E. Sperry, who left an estate valued at about $200,000, Inherited by her at the death of her husband, Simon W. Sperry. the pioneer flour manufacturer, was filed for probate yesterday. Ethel W. Crocker and George B. Sperry, children, and William H. Crocker, son-in-law of the deceased, are named as , executrix and executors of the testament. ' To George B. Sperry the testatrix devised one-half of the lots held by her in the Sperrjr Addition of Stockton, all of the lands held by her in Fresno and her shares in the Farmers' and Merchants' Bank of Stockton. To Georgea M. Sperry, wife of George B. Sperry, and Ethel W. Crocker is devised 400 shares in the Sperry Flour Company, in trust for the benefit ol Georgea M. Sperry during her lifetime, at the termination of which the shares are' to be divided among her children. To Elizabeth G., daughter of George B. Sperry, the four children of James I Sperry, and Austin TV. Sperry, a grand son, is left 100 shares each in the Sperry Flour Company: to Ethel W.. wife of William H. Berkshire ; is a son of Albert and Matilda (Vernon) Sperry; his father was, born in Knox Co., Ohio, in 1815 where he has always remained; his wife was daughter of Isaac Vernon ; she was born June 13, 1820, in Knox Co; Mr. Sperry, the subject of these notes, was born June 3, 1846, in his mother's native county, where he remained engaged in farming until 1874, when he merchandised at Bangs, same county; in 1875, he sold and came to his present farm of 100 acres. Mr. Sperry was married Oct. 25, 1870, to Armada Rees, daughter of Theophilus Rees, of Licking Co; she was born Sept. 11, 1850 ; this wedding was celebrated by Rev. C. N. Harford, of the Baptist denomination; they have two children by this union-Rees, born July 13, 1872 ; Gracie A., June 15, 1876 ; they are both members of the Baptist Church in Sunbury.
