Kemp of 1215 S. Jefferson St. Mr. Sterns attended Santa Ana College and is a member of the American Society for Public Administration. The Westmoreland Congregational Church, Washington D. C., was the scene April 10 of the wedding of Miss Jane Louise Bast, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Y. Bast, Jr., of Kissimmee, Fla., former Mexico residents, and Frederick E. Stearns, son of Mrs. James B. McMenamin of Santa Ana, Calif. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Phillip Gordon Scott against a fan shaped arrangement of white snapdragons and carnations with a background of red velvet. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white net and lace ballerina length, with a waist length veil of illusion which was held by a satin and lace tiara. She carried a bouquet of white carnations and hyacinths centered with an orchid. Mrs. Fred E. Warren and Mrs. Kenneth C. Bennett attended the bride as matrons of honor. Their gowns were fashioned alike. Mrs. Warren wore pink net and carried pink roses and white carnations, and Mrs. Bennett's gown was blue net, and she carried pink roses and blue iris. Walter O. Loescher served the bridegroom as best man and ushers were Perry B. Sims and Byron Nupp. Immediately after the ceremony a reception was held at the bride's home on Abingdon Drive, Alexandria, Va. Mrs. Bast served refreshments from a beautifully appointed table which was covered with an imported lace cloth and centered with an embossed tiered cake. For her wedding trip the bride chose a suit of blue checked gabardine with which she wore black accessories and her corsage was the orchid from her wedding bouquet.
Mr. and Mrs. Stearns will make their home at 1812 Abingdon Drive in Alexandria.
The bride is a great niece of Mrs. George L. Kemp of 1215 South Jefferson St., with whom she made her home while attending Mexico High School.
