Charles “Wayne” Billings, 67, a former Keokuk resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at his home in Kansas City, North, Mo.

He was born on Oct. 23, 1941, in Keokuk, the son of Albert and Dorothy McCoy Billings.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and was employed for many years as a die-cutter at Van Guard Packaging.

He enjoying watching NASCAR races.

Survivors include: a son, Brad (Debbie) Billings of Arlington, Wash; a daughter, Michele Billings of Kansas City; two grandchildren, Camron Billings of Arlington and Mackenzie Billings of Kansas City, North; a long time companion, Margaret Giordano of the home and her children, Jessica Myers of Kansas City, Mo., and Paul Eicholz of Kansas City; three brothers, Jim (Judy) Billings, Oscar (Carol Sue) Billings and Ken Billings, all of Keokuk; four sisters, Janet Rossi of Warrenton, Virginia (Carroll) Mary Smith of Danville, Jean (John) Logsdon of Argyle and Kathy (Jim) Young of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ed.

A private family committal service will take place in Keokuk at a later date.

He was buried in October 2009 at Keokuk National Cemetery, Keokuk, Lee Co., MO, Findagrave #142075500.

Edward H. Billing Dies Suddenly

Edward H. Billing, aged eighty-three years, died suddenly Monday evening, Sept. 14, while milking a cow at the home of his brother, Howard Billing at Collegeville. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon followed by burial at the Collegeville Cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. E. C. Brown, of the First Baptist Church of Benton.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Blanche Spangole, of Hot Springs, N. M; two sisters, Mrs. R. S. Howard of Peculiar, Mo., and Mrs. Charles Howard of Moberly, Mo; two brothers, Howard Billing of near Alexander, and Walter Billing of Tulare, California.

He was buried in September 1936 at Collegeville Cemetery, Collegeville, Saline Co., AR, Findagrave #27684338.

     Emmett Frank Billings was born on 2 December 1861 at Wyaconda, Clark Co., MO. He married Mary Ellen Rains on 14 May 1887 at Kahoka, Clark Co., MO. Emmett Frank Billings died on 21 July 1933 at Keokuk, Lee Co., IA, at age 71 Obituary (Findagrave.com):

Keokuk, Iowa, July 25 - Emmett Frank Billings of 1822 Park Street died at St. Joseph's Hospital at 5:30 p.m. yesterday after an illness of seven months. He was taken to the hospital on March 28.
Born in Wyaconda, Missouri on December 2, 1861, he came to Keokuk 36 years ago and was employed as a teamster.
On May 14, 1887, he was united in marriage with Mary Ellen Rains in Kahoka, Missouri. Twelve children were born to this union, six of whom preceded their father in death.
He was a member of the Modern Woodmen.
Surviving him are his wife and four sons and two daughters, Otto, Ray, Francis, and Albert Billings all of Keokuk, Mrs. Inez McDonald and Mrs. Nora Rudd, both of Keokuk. He also leaves a half-sister, Mrs. Georgia Hurdle of LaHarpe, Illinois and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the home of the daughter, Mrs. H. McDonald, 1322 Park Street, with the Rev. W. P. Hanson officiating. The pallbearers were William Rader, Edward Lloyd, Joe Moore, Oliver Daughters, and C. Cox. Burial was in the family lot in the Blattner Cemetery at Wyaconda, Missouri. The profusion of flowers testified as to the esteem in which the deceased was held.

He was buried in July 1933 at Blattner Cemetery, Wyaconda, Clark Co., MO, Findagrave #58329599.

Carl L. Bills, Yucaipa

Carl Lee Bills, 83, 12726 California St., Yucaipa, died Saturday in a Yucaipa hospital. He was born in Springfield, Iowa and lived in Yucaipa 11 years.

Bills was a retired rancher and belonged to the Yucaipa Grange and the Pythagoras Lodge No. 383 A.F. & A.M. of Cassville, Mo.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie; a daughter, Esther Wenig of Cheyenne, Wyo; two stepdaughters, Dorothy Mills of Long Beach and Vera Jewell of Newport Beach; four stepsons, Merle Mills of Ashland, Ore., Gerald Mills of Long Beach, Richard Mills of Los Angeles and Lewis Mills of Newport News, Va., 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Hughes Funeral Chapel, Yucaipa, with burial to follow in Desert Lawn Park.

He was buried in December 1976 at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, Calimesa, Riverside Co., CA.
