Stoner married Louis Franklin Benedict, son of Daniel M. Benedict and Isabella Price Norris, on 3 March 1929.1 Martha S. Mrs. Martha S. (Stoner) Benedict, 91, of 5215 Hess-Benedict Road, Waynesboro, died at 8:30 a.m. Friday, May 3, 1996, in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Isabelle Hess.

Born Feb. 8, 1905, in Menomonee, Wis., she was the daughter of the late Solomon and Emma M. (Cripe) Stoner. She lived her early life in Wisconsin.

She and her late husband, Louis F. Benedict, were married March 3, 1929. They moved to the farm on Manheim Road in 1929 and to 5393 Manheim Road in 1965. Since 1992, she had been living with her four local daughters.

Mrs. Benedict worked on the farm with her husband.

She was a member of the Falling Spring Congregation of Old German Baptist Church, Chambersburg.

She is survived by six daughters, Frances Skiles of Phoenix, Ariz., Florence Lyman of Salt Lake City, Utah, Emma Rotz and Laura Slothour, both of Chambersburg, Isabelle Hess of Waynesboro and Marjorie Hess of Shady Grove; three sons, Frederick Benedict of Union City, Ohio, Franklin Benedict of Philadelphia and Daniel Benedict of Missouri; 41 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Long of Indiana, and Mary Hopkins and Dora Miller, both of Ohio; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Benedict was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Falling Springs Congregation of Old German Baptist Church, Chambersburg, with Elders Fred Garber and Orla Miller and Brothers Glen Jamison and Clair Carber officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery near Quincy.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. in Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

The family request the omission of flowers.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Drake-Flowers Chapel with
