     Elzora Summers was born in October 1877 at Delaware Co. (probably), OH. She was the daughter of Jacob W. Summers and Jenetta Shroyer. Elzora Summers married Harry P. Tarvin, son of Azariah J. Tarvin and Sarah B. (?), circa 1898 at Henry Co., IN.

     Euphema Elizabeth Summers was born on 19 February 1850 at Virginia (now WV).² She married John W. Harris circa 1866.² Euphema Elizabeth Summers died on 23 October 1896 at Lewis Co., WV, at age 46 Dates per headstone.      Felix Dolph Summers was born on 30 October 1909 at Mills Co., IA; son of Strayer Samuel and Helen Marticia (Dolph) Summers. He married Mary B. Buffington, daughter of Charles Rollin Buffington Sr. and Mabel Clare Gilmore. Felix Dolph Summers began military service on 15 December 1942 WW II service, enlisted, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, discharged 17 SEP 1943. He lived in 1949 at Strahan, Mills Co., IA, WW II bonus case file. He died on 11 June 1987 at Nebraska at age 77. He was buried in June 1987 at Malvern Cemetery, Malvern, Mills Co., IA, Findagrave #94673925.

     Franklin Summers was born on 12 March 1882 at Delaware Co., IN. He was the son of Jacob W. Summers and Jenetta Shroyer.

     Guy Edward Summers was born on 11 December 1902 at Henry Co., IN. He was the son of Charles G. Summers and Ida E. Tarvin. Guy Edward Summers died on 9 December 1992 at Port Charlotte, Charlotte Co., FL, at age 89.

John Wesley Summers was born 29 January 1844 in Scott County, Indiana to Charles and Belinda Summers. His mother died sometime after 1851 and his father remarried to Katherine Eliza Gray a woman many years his junior when John was eight years old. John moved to Clark County, Missouri with the family and was fifteen in the 1860 census. The Civil War started April 1861 and December 04, 1861 John Summers joined as a private in Company A of the 2nd Regiment Cavalry, Missouri State Militia at Kahoka, Missouri for one year. He deserted December 10, 1862 according to the Missouri Archive records for the Civil War. This was a Union regiment.
In 1870 he was living in San Louis Obispo, California as a single man. He returned to Clark County, Missouri to marry Julia A. Davalt 16 November 1879. Julia had been born 15 February 1856 in Clark County, Missouri. John and Julia were living in Clark County for the 1880 census, but left to live in San Louis Obispo where the oldest daughter Mattie A was born in 1882. By 1886 they were living in Hepner, Oregon where the other three daughters were born. The 1900 census showed them living in Kern County, California where they stayed until their deaths. John's principal occupation was farming and proprietor of a grocery store in his later years. John died 12 October 1924 and Julia died 21 December 1937. They were buried in the City Cemetery at Bakersfield, California. All four of the daughters remained in California until their respective deaths.

John W. Summers, 80 years of age, died last night at home, 926 Eureka, heart trouble. Retired farmer and resident of Bakersfield the last five years. Surviving Widow Mrs. Julie Summers, 4 daughters; Mrs. Mattie Brians, Oilsdale; Mrs. M. T. Hargett, Miss Daisy Summers, and Miss Nora Summers, all of Bakersfield. Two Grandsons; Melvin and Duard Brians and one grand-daughter June Hargett." John died 12 Oct 1924.


Note: John's and Julia's daughter, Nora (Summers) Darnell, reported that her father "crossed the plains three times by covered wagon, before he was married." He and Julia returned to California by train shortly after they were married. They first lived in San Luis Obispo Co., later moved to eastern Oregon and finally returned to California. They settled on a homestead a few miles from Bakersfield, south of the Taft Oil Fields. It was still a relatively new country and Nora and her sisters often played in an old Indian burial ground, collecting beads, arrowheads, etc. In 1900 they moved down the valley about 12 miles south of Bakersfield on a farm. In later years they moved to town and operated a grocery store.

     Joseph Summers married Elizabeth Utz, daughter of Conrad Utz and Elizabeth Baker. Joseph Summers was born in 1817. He was the son of Jacob Summers and Christiana Venis. Joseph Summers died in 1893.

     Leetta Summers was born on 23 July 1870 at Indiana.¹ She was the daughter of Jacob W. Summers and Jenetta Shroyer. Leetta Summers married Abraham Lincoln Frazier on 15 May 1886 at Delaware Co., IN. Leetta Summers and Abraham Lincoln Frazier were divorced before April 1890; Leeta remarried to Sherman B. Harshman on 27 APR 1890. This Abraham Frazier was listed on the 1900 census, widowed, living in his parents' household, along with a sister, Mary. There were three Frazier surnamed grandchildren living in the household, Robert, Opal, and Ethel, ages 6 to 9, who appear to have been Abraham's children. If so, he would appear to have been divorced and remarried by 1889. DLB 2020. Leetta Summers married Sherman B. Harshman on 27 April 1890 at Anderson, Madison Co., IN. Leetta Summers married Frank Wood circa 1895, 1900 census (June) shows Leeta and Frank had been married for five years. Frank was previously married to Louisa Alice Hart on 14 AUG 1883, Henry County, IN, and had at least four children with her.¹

Leetta Summers died on 8 September 1937 at St. John Hospital, Anderson, Madison Co., IN, at age 67. Cause of death: cancer of the uterus. She was buried in September 1937 at Beech Grove Cemetery, Muncie, Delaware Co., IN, Findagrave #102893729.

     Leora Summers was born in 1882. She was the daughter of Levi Summers and Celestia Ann Stauffer. Leora Summers married Roland Charles Nusbaum in 1901. Leora Summers died in 1946. She was buried at West Lawn Cemetery, Canton, Stark Co., OH, Findagrave #118920044.

     Levi Summers was born in 1847; son of David and Anna (Kegg) Summers. He married Celestia Ann Stauffer, daughter of Abraham Edwin Stauffer and Susanna Mary Ann Estry. Levi Summers died in 1928. He was buried at West Lawn Cemetery, Canton, Stark Co., OH, Findagrave #119835931.

     Lillian M. Summers was born on 6 May 1899 at Henry Co., IN. She was the daughter of Charles G. Summers and Ida E. Tarvin. Lillian M. Summers married Harold E. Ginn on 30 August 1919 at Delaware Co., IN.

     Lloyd Summers was born on 12 January 1895 at Delaware Co., IN. He was the son of David M. Summers and Alberta M. Hiatt. Lloyd Summers married Elizabeth Bertha Miller on 4 September 1915 at Delaware Co., IN.

     Mattie Alice Summers was born on 7 February 1882 at San Luis Obispo Co., CA. She was the daughter of John Wesley Summers and Julia Ann Davalt. Mattie Alice Summers married Henry Alfred Brians on 23 December 1903. Mattie Alice Summers married William Fountain Webster, son of Joseph W. Webster and Mary Adeline Rohrer, on 31 December 1947. WEBSTER, MATTIE ALICE - Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Doughty - Calhoun-O'Meara Mortuary chapel for Mattie Alice Webster, 91, 329 North Real Road, who died Feb. 1 in a Bakersfield convalescent hospital. Rev. E. L. Shaffer will officiate and interment will be in Union Cemetery. The deceased was a native of San Luis Obispo and had lived in Bakersfield 90 years and in California all her life. She was the wife of Font Webster, who was a former Chief of Police of Bakersfield. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Nona Darnall and a niece, Velma Heinrich, both of San Mateo.

     Nona May Summers was born on 18 July 1888 at Heppner, Morrow Co., OR. She was the daughter of John Wesley Summers and Julia Ann Davalt. Nona May Summers married Marvin Theodore Carlton on 16 June 1907. Nona May Summers and Marvin Theodore Carlton were divorced. Nona Mae Darnall, 98 years, of Moss Beach died Friday at St. Katherine Hospital on Half Moon Bay in Moss Beach. A native of Oregon she was a member of Burlingame Assembly of God Church. Her husband was the late Thomas Darnall. Survivor, niece Velna J. Heinrich of Redwood City. Burial was in Cypress Lawn Memorial Park in Colma.

Wayland, Mo., Mar. 12.---A family reunion was held here at the home of Mrs. Mary Wilsey in honor of Nona Darnall of Grant's Pass, Ore. Mrs. Darnell is the daughter of the late John and Julia Devalt Summers and is a niece of Mrs. Orpha Mott and Mrs. Mary Wilsey.
Present for the reunion were; Mrs. Orpha Mott, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wyllie, Mrs. Ida Main, all of Wayland, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Andy Martin and daughter, Anna May, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kinkeade and Waler and Barnard Hagerman all of Alexandria, Mo; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Mott and daughter Maryilyn, of Ft. Two San Mateo Sisters Die After R. C. Traffic Accident
A luncheon outing ended tragically yesterday when two elderly San Mateo sisters were fatally injured in a Redwood City traffic accident.
Mrs. Daisy Summers, 83 and her sister, Mrs. Bertha Hargett, 79, both of 1510 Lorraine Avenue in San Mateo, died early today at Kaiser Hospital, Redwood City, of internal injuries suffered in the crash.
A third sister, Mrs. Nona Darnall, 81 also of the same address, was seriously injured and is reported in fair condition at Mills Memorial Hospital. Also injured was Mrs. Dora Sherer, 55, 438 Cavanaugh Street, San Mateo, and Mrs. Shirley A. Morris, 59 1121 Juanita Avenue, Burlingame. Mrs. Sherer is in fair condition at Mills Hospital with a head injury. Mrs. Morris was treated for cuts at Kaiser Hospital. The accident occurred at 12:20 p. m. at the intersection of Woodside Expressway and Broadway when a car driven by Mrs. Morris made a left turn from the center eastbound lane of the expressway and was struck by an oncoming pickup truck driven by Laurence O. Clark, 36, a Castro Valley cabinet maker.
Policemen Pete McDonald and Vincent Truscelli said that Mrs. Morris apparently became confused by the traffic signal arrow and made the left turn from the optional center lane while the arrow was showing green for straight ahead traffic only.
Police say the arrow system which sometimes permits a left turn from the center lane, poses a safety hazard at the intersection with drivers not only making left turns on the straight ahead arrow, but stopping on the green arrow to wait for the left turn arrow. The signal system was installed by the state and is maintained by the division of highways.

Mrs. Morris told the police officers that she was making the turn onto Broadway with the intention of going to a nearby restaurant where the the women intended to have lunch.
Mrs. Hargett is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Velma Heinrich, of 627 Vera Avenue, Redwood City.

     Rachel L. Summers was born in September 1843 at Tazewell Co., IL.¹ She was the daughter of James Summers and Jane Lester.¹ Rachel L. Summers married Robert Burns Reed, son of Lucius Reed and Susannah Larimore, on 14 November 1861 at Pekin, Tazewell Co., IL, Five children born, two living as of the 1900 census.² Rachel L. Summers died in February 1906 at Missouri at age 62. She was buried in 1906 at Rouse Cemetery, Darlington, Gentry Co., IL, Findagrave #33635048.

     Rosella May Summers was born on 25 February 1889 at Kansas.¹ She married Guy Allen Speers. Rosella May Summers died on 7 April 1962 at age 73. She was buried in April 1962 at Mahaska Cemetery, Mahaska, Washington Co., KS, Findagrave #46651319.

     Sarah Summers was born circa 1816 at North Carolina.¹ She married Andrew Clinton on 15 March 1840 at Ripley Co., MO; ceremony by T. Rusk, J.P. Sarah Summers died before 1858; she was gone by the 28 DEC 1856 when Andrew remarried to Margaret Pyrtle in Dent County.
