Wilford Marion Swigart married Verne McClelland Dale on 28 November 1923. Wilford Marion Swigart died on 19 July 1975 at Jamestown, Greene Co., OH, at age 78.      William Clark Swigart was born on 20 January 1882 at Greene Co., OH. He was the son of Henry Valentine Swigart and Martha Jane Coy. William Clark Swigart married Cecile M. Richardson on 17 March 1903 at Montgomery Co., OH. William Clark Swigart died on 12 March 1964 at Dayton, Montgomery Co., OH, at age 82.

     William H. Swigart was born in November 1861 at Sugarcreek Twp., Greene Co., OH.^1,2 He was the son of Solomon Swigart and Rebecca Campbell. William H. Swigart married Martha C. (?) circa 1883.² Occupation: Stationary engineer in 1910 at Middletown, Butler Co., OH. William H. Swigart died on 30 May 1929 at Butler Co., OH, at age 67.

     William Sherman Swigart was born in August 1866 at Beavercreek Twp., Greene Co., OH. He was the son of Isaac Swigart and Elizabeth Boyd. William Sherman Swigart married Mary L. Hollopeter, daughter of Benjamin Hollopeter and Margaret E. Hays, on 16 September 1892 at Miami Co., OH. William Sherman Swigart died on 24 October 1949 at Miami Co., OH, at age 83.      Wilson Swigart was born at Sugarcreek Twp., Greene Co., OH. He was the son of Michael Swigart and Charlotta Swadner.

     Swigart was born before 7 August 1820.¹ She was the daughter of John Swigart and Mary Krise.¹ Swigart died after 1830.¹


Note: Some online genealogies show this daughter as Julie Ann Swigart, born 1815, married Henry Zepp and lived at Martinsburg, Berkeley County, Virginia (now WV). Given the transportation and communication technology of the early 1830s in Ohio, I doubt this. John and Mary Swigart were settled at Greene County, Ohio by August, 1820, so that is where this child grew up, at least to 1830 when she was still living and with the parents. It is not likely that she would have known a man from Berkeley County, Virginia, nor have settled so far from her parents. The John and Mary Schweigart family found in the 1850 census of Carroll County, Maryland would be a far more likely candidate family for the Julie Ann who married Henry Zepp. But I have no further evidence one way or the other at this date.      Adam Swigert was born on 26 April 1833 at Greene Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Peter Swigert and Rebecca Tobias.¹ Adam Swigert married Angeline M. Hoskins, daughter of James Hoskins and Mary (?), on 25 December 1861 at Jay Co., IN. Adam Swigert began military service on 23 October 1862 at Camp Sullivan, Indianapolis, Marion Co., IN, Civil War service, enlisted, Private, Co. H, 54th Indiana Volunteer Infantry, Capt. W.O.J. Wilson, Cdr., discharged about 26 DEC 1863, Mound City, Illinois.

The 54th Indiana saw action at Chickasaw Bayou near Vicksburg, MS during 26-29 DEC 1862, in the Union forces commanded by Maj. Gen. William Sherman, against Confederate forces commanded by Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton. On 29 DEC Gen. Sherman ordered a frontal result against the Confederate defenses northeast of Vicksburg, which was unsuccessful and resulted in heavy casualties.

He married Eliza Ellen Kelley, daughter of Levi Kelley and Caroline Adams, on 28 May 1871 at Jay Co., IN. Adam Swigert died on 6 August 1916 at Fiat, Jay Co., IN, at age 83. He was buried in August 1916 at Twin Hill Cemetery, Pennville, Jay Co., IN, Findagrave #104968463.

     Anne Howe Swigert was born in 1825. She was the daughter of Philip Swigert and Jane Love Watson. Anne Howe Swigert died on 14 December 1845 at Franklin Co. (probably), KY.

     Charles S. Swigert was born on 6 May 1868 at Wells Co., IN.^1,2 He was the son of Adam Swigert and Angeline M. Hoskins.¹ Charles S. Swigert married Lydia M. Horn, daughter of William Horn and Emeline Irey, on 19 February 1898 at Jay Co., IN, Two children born, both living as of 1910 census.³ Charles S. Swigert lived in April 1910 at Penn Twp., Jay Co., IN.³ He lived in January 1920 at Penn Twp., Jay Co., IN.⁴ He died on 22 February 1943 at Mercer Co., OH, at age 74.

     Dale Eugene Swigert was born on 13 August 1922 at Bluffton, Wells Co., IN. He was the son of Harold Eugene Swigert and Eva Gertrude Peters. Dale Eugene Swigert began military service on 18 November 1942 at Indianapolis, Marion Co., IN, WW II service, enlisted. He married Ruby Gwendolyn Horst on 27 March 1953. Dale Eugene Swigert died on 1 October 1986 at Bluffton, Wells Co., IN, at age 64.

     Emma A. Swigert was born in June 1899 at Penn Twp., Jay Co., IN.¹ She was the daughter of Charles S. Swigert and Lydia M. Horn.¹ Emma A. Swigert married Carl Henry Gibbons, son of Alonzo Francis Gibbons and Mary E. Fox, after January 1920. Emma A. Swigert lived on 5 April 1930 at Celina, Mercer Co., OH.² She died on 25 April 1975 at Celina, Mercer Co., OH, at age 75. Note: Frank was a deaf mute. When he was about five years old, he and his cousin Garth Swigert were playing on a stock watering tank as a thunderstorm approached. Blanche Swigert, Garth's mother, went outside to call the boys indoors just as lightning struck the water tank. Both boys were thrown clear of the tank, leaving Frank with injuries that left him a deaf mute. Story told to Richard K. Swigert by Garth Swigert in 1985.

Kenneth Wayne Swigert died on 7 January 1993 at Green Bay, Brown Co., WI, at age 81.

Kenneth Wayne Swigert attended his first year of college at Ball State Teachers College in Muncie, IN. His second year he attended Purdue University at Lafayette, IN. He was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. After that year and during the Great Depression he dropped out of college due to lack of money. His old basketball coach, Louie Means, who he stayed in contact with, was coaching at East High School in Green Bay, WI, and told him that if he moved to Green Bay he could find work and also play basketball in a city industrial league. In 1932 Kenneth moved from Indiana to Green Bay, WI, living with Clarence and Emily Gille at 1408 Elm Street. He started working for the Shefford Cheese Company as a laborer dumping cream. He worked his way up to the position of personnel manager and stayed with them until they were bought by Standard Brands Company and the company was moved to Chicago about 1945. He was offered employment with them if he moved to Chicago but declined the offer and stayed in Green Bay. Sometime later he went to work for the Northern Paper Mill in Green Bay as a mill laborer and worked his way up to a production supervisor in the converting department. He stayed there until his retirement in 1972. The Northern Paper Mill Company changed its name to American Can Company and then to the James River Corporation as it was purchased and merged with the larger companies.

     Lela May Swigert was born on 30 July 1894 at Wells Co., IN, 1900 census shows 1895, however all other sources show 1894.¹ She was the daughter of Lindley Allen Swigert and Minnie Olive Dawley.¹ Lela May Swigert married Louis D. Taylor, son of Alonzo Martin Taylor and Emma Elnora Platt, on 27 November 1917 at Wells Co., IN. Lela May Swigert died on 8 May 1980 at Montpelier, Blackford Co., IN, at age 85. She was buried in May 1980 at Fairview Cemetery, Bluffton, Wells Co., IN, Findagrave #73250553.

     Lindley Allen Swigert was born on 27 March 1872 at Wells Co., IN.¹ He was the son of Adam Swigert and Eliza Ellen Kelley.¹ Lindley Allen Swigert married Minnie Olive Dawley, daughter of Horace Dawley and Martha Emmons, on 2 January 1892 at Fiat, Jay Co., IN.
