     Benjamin Tallman was born on 26 May 1776 at Berks Co., PA. He was the son of Benjamin Tallman and Dinah Boone. Benjamin Tallman died on 29 May 1776 at Berks Co., PA.

     Benjamin Tallman was born on 19 November 1786 at Harrisonburg, Rockingham Co., VA. He was the son of Benjamin Tallman and Dinah Boone. Benjamin Tallman married Lydia Howard Harrison, daughter of John Harrison and Grace Woodley, on 18 June 1805 at Rockingham Co., VA. Benjamin Tallman died in 1835 at Benton, Scott Co., MO.

     Benjamin Tallman was born on 28 June 1684 at Portsmouth, Newport Co., Rhode Island Colony. He was the son of Peter Tallman and Joan Briggs. Benjamin Tallman married Patience Durfee, daughter of Thomas Durfee and Deliverance Hall, on 23 September 1708 at by William Arnold, Justice, Portsmouth, Newport Co., RI. Benjamin Tallman married Deborah Cook, daughter of John Cook and Mary Havens, on 7 June 1724 at Providence, Newport Co., RI. Benjamin Tallman died on 20 May 1759 at Warwick, Kent Co., RI, at age 74.

     Benjamin Tallman was born on 7 November 1800 at Rockingham Co., VA. He was the son of William Tallman and Phoebe Henton. Benjamin Tallman died on 1 November 1801 at Rockingham Co., VA.

     Benjamin Tallman was born on 18 November 1801 at Rockingham Co., VA. He was the son of William Tallman and Phoebe Henton. Benjamin Tallman married Rebecca Hedges on 5 October 1823 at Pickaway Co., OH, Fairfield County, Ohio Marriages book, page 3: " This is to certifiy that on the 5th of Oct 1823, I solemnized the Marriage of Benjamin Tallman and Rebecca Hedges. Henry Mathews EC."

Benjamin Tallman died on 15 February 1832 at Pickaway Co., OH, at age 30. He was buried in February 1832 at Tallman Cemetery on Peters farm, Walnut Twp., Pickaway Co., OH.

     Note: Benjamin Tallman was a young man when the War of 1812 broke out and he enlisted. He was later commissioned Captain and led a company of soldiers, by way of Pennsylvania, down the Winchester Valley to Norfolk, Virginia. They remained there until peace was declared, at which time he was a Colonel of the 127th Regiment.

He did not return home to Harrisonburg, but instead his father's family followed him and they settled in Pocahontas County. There Benjamin married his first wife and they reared a family of five sons and one daughter. After his wife died, he married Jane Armstrong, with whom he had no children. In Pocahontas County he represented the county in the Virginia House of Delegates, and was for many years the ruling elder in the Liberty Presbyterian Church, as well as Justice of the Peace.

He sold out in Pocahontas County and relocated to Upshur County, West Virginia, settling on the farm of his son James who had settled there two years previously. Soon after, his sons Robert and Cyrus came to Upshur County. He and the three sons then jointly bought about 700 acres of land, known as the John C. Jackson tract in Upshur County. Later his other two sons, John and William, also relocated to Upshur County with their families.

In the spring of 1861 his second wife, Jane, died and in the fall of 1862 he married Sophronia Norvell of Sago, West Virginia. The farm recently owned by Key Bennett was originally their home.

On January 5, 1869 a U.S. Post Office was established on his farm and named in his honor, Tallmansville. He was the first Postmaster. Although the little village has now changed the name to Strader, the Post Office remains the same.

In the fall of 1871 he fell dead at the age of 84 and is buried at the Tallmansville Baptist Cemetery. His wife, Sophronia, was appointed to take his place as Postmaster March 27, 1872.

     Benjamin Tallman was born in 1833 at Tyler Co., VA (now WV).^1,2 He was the son of James Benton Tallman and Mary Ellen Bell. Benjamin Tallman married Nollie Ann Carroll. Benjamin Tallman lived in September 1860 at Wayne Twp., Henry Co., IA.² He died in 1920.

     Benjamin Tallman was born in 1832 at Pickaway Co., OH. He was the son of Judge George Tallman and Jane Douglas. Benjamin Tallman married Sarah Lyman in 1857. Benjamin Tallman died on 8 July 1888 at Camanche, Clinton Co., IA, Obituary:

A prominant and highly respecdted citizen and leading member of the M.E. Church, died suddenly of Apoplexy at his home near Camanche, Iowa July 8, 1888. He was the fourth son of Judge George Tallman, and was born in New Holland, Ohio in 1832. He came to Iowa in 1855, settling near Camanche, where he has since resided. In 1857 he married Miss Sarah Lyman, with whom he lived until they were separated by death. Twelve children blessed this union, eleven of whom are living. (1888) About twenty years ago he was converted and united with the M.E. Church, remaining a faithful member of the same until called to his reward above. He was a devoted husband, a kind and affectionate father, an obliging neighbor, and an earnest Christian. His funeral was largely attended.

     Benjamin Tallman was the son of Boone Tallman and Mary C. Logan.

     Col. Benjamin Tallman was born on 15 September 1743 at Tiverton, Newport Co., RI. He was the son of Benjamin Tallman and Elizabeth Gorton. Col. Benjamin Tallman married Rhoda Church in 1773 at Rhode Island. Col. Benjamin Tallman died on 10 June 1836 at age 92.

     Note: Around 1848 Benjamin moved to Jones County, Iowa from Canal Winchester, Franklin County, Ohio. Sometime in the 1850s Benjamin moved his family to the next county to the west, Linn County. He was involved with the United Brethren Church which founded a town and college at Western. Benjamin was the farm agent and resident agent for the college for many years. At one time he served on the Board of Regents. When the church founded the town it was hoped that the lots and nearby farms could be sold to the members thereby creating a strong religious community. They were also in a good position to be on a major north/south railway line. Such was not to be the case though. The railway located to both the east and west of the town by a few miles and an influx of immigrants from Bohemia bought up much of the surrounding land. The college fell on hard times and eventually closed. One of Benjamin's jobs was to operate the college farm. The farm provided a work/study program for needy students as well as a means for the college to earn outside income. Benjamin owned no land in Linn County until 1864 but he clearly lived there much earlier, so he probably resided on the college farm itself. He purchased 80 acres adjacent to the college farm just to the north (E1/2, SE1/4 Sec. 28-82-7). A barn that he built was still standing in 1987.

Benjamin died in 1881 and his wife Romancy moved to Rippey in Greene County, Iowa, to live with her daughter Amy. Another daughter, Eliza also lived around Rippey and Romancy later lived with her. There is also some indication that her son Miller also lived in the area for a while. There seems to have been quite an exodus of Tallmans to Greene County. Several sons of Benjamin's brother John also moved there. Many of Benjamin's younger children moved to Minnesota. Benjamin is buried in Western Cemetery in Linn County, Iowa.

     Benjamin Elliott Tallman was born in 1856 at Canal Winchester, Franklin Co., OH. He was the son of William Henry Tallman and Elizabeth Coffman. Benjamin Elliott Tallman died in 1951.

     Benjamin Franklin Tallman was born on 15 January 1804 at Wellsburg, Augusta Co., VA (now Pendleton Co., WV). He was the son of Samuel Tallman and Sarah Wells. Benjamin Franklin Tallman married Nancy Craig Tallman, daughter of Benjamin Tallman and Elizabeth Warwick, in October 1839 at Shelbyville, Shelby Co., IL. Benjamin Franklin Tallman died on 23 February 1877 at Shelbyville, Shelby Co., IL, at age 73.

     Benjamin Franklin Tallman was born circa 1854 at Tyler Co., Virginia (now WV).¹ He was the son of Salathiel Tallman and Elizabeth Ellen Workman.¹ Benjamin Franklin Tallman married Mary Lydia Helfenstine, daughter of James O'Kelly Helfenstine and Lydia Minshall.²

     Benjamin Horatio Tallman was born after 1730. He was the son of Peter Tallman and Margaret Imlay. Benjamin Horatio Tallman died in 1796.

     Benjamin Lyle Tallman was born on 24 October 1913 at Rock Island, Rock Island Co., IL. He was the son of Bertram Bruce Tallman and Anetta Cordelia Vandyke. Benjamin Lyle Tallman died on 22 July 1990 at Bradenton, Manatee Co., FL, at age 76.

     Bernice Tallman was born on 10 September 1894 at Davenport, Scott Co., IA. She was the daughter of Bertram Bruce Tallman and Anetta Cordelia Vandyke. Bernice Tallman married William Camp. Bernice Tallman died in 1964.

     Bernice Eva May Tallman was born on 26 April 1915 at Lakefield, Jackson Co., MN. She was the daughter of Arthur Jay Tallman and Ruth Woltz. Bernice Eva May Tallman married John Votek on 26 April 1935.

     Bernice June Tallman was born on 3 June 1916 at Minnesota. She was the daughter of Fred E. Tallman and Alta May Postier. Bernice June Tallman married Wilburt Orlando Malchow, son of Gustav H. Malchow and Anna Bertha Finkert, on 25 May 1935. Bernice June Tallman died on 19 November 1978 at Heron Lake, Jackson Co., MN, at age 62. She was buried in November 1978 at Windom Memorial Gardens, Windom, Cottonwood Co., MN.

     Bert Tallman was born in 1887. He was the son of James Henton Tallman and Margie Bonney.

     Bert H. Tallman was Church of the Brethren.¹ He was born in February 1888 at Carroll Co. (probably), IL.² He was the son of John Tallman and Sarah (?)¹ Bert H. Tallman married Ola Hepfer, daughter of Harry Hepfer and Cora Butterbaugh, on 25 February 1908, Ceremony by Rev. Z. T. Loomgood.¹

     Bertha Tallman was born in 1914. She was the daughter of Hinton Leonard Tallman and Bessie Wilcox. Bertha Tallman married Elmer C. Cox.
