     Clarence Albert Tatum Jr. was born on 25 June 1907 at Dallas, Hunt Co., TX.1 He was the son of Clarence Adolphus Tatum and Annie Elizabeth Wright.1 Clarence Albert Tatum Jr. was graduated in 1928; Southern Methodist University, Major: Physics. He married Caroline King, daughter of Alwyn Penn King and Mary Letyr Long, on 16 December 1936, Two sons to this marriage. Clarence Albert Tatum Jr. died in October 1986 at Dallas, Dallas Co., TX, at age 79 Obituary:

TATUM, CLARENCE ALBERT, JR. (1907–1986). Clarence Albert (C. A.) Tatum, Jr., civic leader and president of Texas Utilities Company, was born on June 25, 1907, in Dallas, the son of Clarence Albert and Annie Elizabeth (Wright) Tatum. In 1928 he graduated with a physics degree from Southern Methodist University. He was immediately employed in the commercial department of the Dallas Power and Light Company. By 1953 he was elected president and chief executive officer. He continued in that position until 1967, when he became chief executive officer of the Texas Utilities Company. He retired in 1975 but continued as a consultant until his death in 1986. In 1960 Tatum headed the Dallas Citizens Council. He was awarded a Liberty Bell Award by the Dallas Bar Association and the National Brotherhood Citation by the National Conference of Christians and Jews in 1962. He believed that Dallas would grow and encouraged plans that would help it do so in an organized fashion. The idea of buying the Cotton Belt Railroad and turning it into Dallas North Tollway was his; later he became chairman of the Highway Committee of the Dallas Chamber of Commerce. Tatum was president of the Lion's Club of Dallas, the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, and the State Fair of Texas. He served on the Southern Methodist University Board of Trustees and Board of Governors. He was on the boards of the Dallas Summer Musicals, the Excellence in Education Foundation, and the Southwestern Medical Foundation. In 1959 he received a Dallas Hospital Council Award as chairman of the St. Paul Hospital building campaign. He was president of Circle Ten Council, Boy Scouts of America, in 1962 and 1963. He was a Methodist. On December 16, 1936, Tatum married Caroline King. They had two sons. Tatum died on October 1, 1986, at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas and was buried at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

(?)1 Clemenza Tennessee Tatum married Joseph Rose, Seven children born, two living as of the 1900 census.2,3 Clemenza Tennessee Tatum lived on 14 July 1860 at Marion Twp., Sebastian Co., AR.2 She married Joel Dodson, son of Samuel Dodson and Mary Williams, before 1870. Clemenza Tennessee Tatum lived on 5 June 1900 at Thurston Precinct, Lane Co., OR, with son Maurice's family.3 She died on 27 October 1913 at Lane Co., OR, at age 77.

Judge Howell Tatum

     Judge Howell Tatum was born in 1753 at North Carolina. He was the son of Joshua Tatum and Amy Chappell. Judge Howell Tatum married Rosannah Wendel, daughter of Christopher Wendel and Susannah Deaderick, on 24 December 1795 at Davidson Co., TN, Source: Red River Settlers: Records of the Settlers of Northern Montgomery, Robertson, and Sumner Counties, Tennessee, by Edythe Johns Rucker Whitley, page 74. Some genealogies show an alternate marriage date 29 AUG 1798, a son Wilkins Tatum and a daughter Sarah of this marriage. However these two children are not mentioned in the Red River Settlers. There was a Wilkins Tatum, born about 1805, who lived for decades at P.O. Belles Depot/Bellville, Haywood County, Tennessee, however he consistently reported his birth location as North Carolina. Judge Howell Tatum died in 1822 at Nashville, Davidson Co., TN. He was buried in 1822 at Old City Cemetery, Nashville, Davidson Co., TN.
Note: George Michael Deaderick, uncle of Rosannah Wendel Tatum, and Howell Tatum operated a banking and mercantile partnership in Nashville, 1802-1805. Deaderick later served as president of the Nashville Bank, and as captain of Tennessee Volunteers during the War of 1812. Howell Tatum was a veteran of the Revolutionary War, in which he attained the military rank of Major, he held various offices for short periods; attorney general and treasurer of the Mero District, Judge of the Superor Court, military storekeeper at Nashville. Howell Tatum was a revolutionary veteran, lawyer, merchant, surveyor, and officeholder in Nashville for the Mero District, served as topographical engineer to the Tennessee Militia ant to the U.S. Army, 7th Military District, from February 1814 to June 1815.
