Obituary -- (Findagrave.com):
PATRICIA ANN LONG (PAT) was born in Harrisburg, PA. on Nov. 9th, 1930 to parents Samual and Dorothy Thomas. moving from there to Hagerstown MD. she lived in Halfway and attended Hagerstown high school where she ended up meeting and falling in love with our father Dale Eugene Long. In 1948 she decided at the age of 17 she would quit high school and run off with dale to West Virginia and get married. She went to work as a sales girl for Murphys while dale headed off to the army. In 1951 her father passed away and her mother moved in with them to live. After Dale came home from the Korean war they decided to have their 1st son Thomas Eugene Long. A few years later they along with Dot moved to Annapolis MD. and there would have their 2nd son Stephen Alan Long. Shortly after he was born they were offered a job and move to Salisbury, MD, where she would live out the rest of her life with her family. Working side by side with her husband they would run together a company called BAY STATE NEWS. Mom and Dad would end up pouring their hearts and souls into making this a successful company. However in most situations like this there are always other things you give up and neglect such as family. Thank goodness for dot (her mother) she would take the helm at home and raise the the boys. Mom and dad never really took any vacations just work. At this time pat and Dale discovered boating, and with that would keep them away from home even more. In 1971 pats mom dot passed away at their home. Work and boating became the two major activities around our house. The boating crowd and the yaught club is where Pat and Dale's direction would go. Our mother loved us very much and i never felt otherwise. Our parents had a hard time showing love so there really wasnt much affection around. Moms way of showing her love was presents! and lots of them, she would make every holiday a special occasion for us boys. any occasion she could come up with was her excuse to spoil her boys. Her first grandchild was born to Tommy named Lisa Anne and the heavens opened up. That changed mom and really opened her up. Mom love dressing up and having her hair fixed 2 times a week, keeping her long nails pristine and loved wearing jewelry and lots of it. I never met anyone that had a bad word to say about her, she loved being social, she was not a big cook but when she did cook she cooked! wow she could really make a great meal. Then Tommy and Vicki (Pat's daughter in law) gave mom another grandchild, wade, the little prince! However her happiness with grandchildren wouild not last much longer. Mom starting her illness in 1988 right after returning from a cruise. She was diagnosed with ARTERIORSCLEROSIS. She lost one of her legs, she still fought hard but without success. She passed away on a Sunday morning sept 29th 1996. After a large memorial service she was buried close to her parents in bakersville md. She lived life on her own terms (she really did) she loved her family very much and did everything to keep us together until the end. She was loved very much and in the end " SHE DID THE BEST SHE KNEW HOW TO " You are missed greatly mom and I look forward to the day to see you again. Mom was joined on the other side in 2011 with the man she spent 48 years married to, Dale. Tommy and I can say one thing and that is no matter how hard it was our parents kept the family together till the end and I for one am proud of that.
She was buried in October 1996 at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Bakersville, Washington Co., MD, Findagrave #68973964.

Note: Rolandus, also found as "Rowland" or "Roland", was listed on the 1880 census as "Orlandus" Bushong, and was living with his grandmother Hannah Reese and her second husband Levi Thomas. The evidence suggests strongly that he was an illegitimate son of Estoria Isoline Bushong. His mother had married Chase Keller in 1878 and was living with him in Hardin County in 1880, leaving Rolandus in the care of her parents. Rolandus used the surname Thomas his entire adult life, starting before his 1895 marriage. It is not clear whether he merely adopted the surname of the parents who raised him, or whether he was aware of a biological father surnamed Thomas. Personally I believe the former is more likely. He gave the birthplace of his father as "Pennsylvania" multiple times. A review of the 1870 and 1880 censuses, searching for a Thomas man of about Isoline's age who was born in Pennsylvania, shows none living closer than Sandusky County. DLB 2019.
