Mildred Matzen Ross passed away May 10, 2007 in Mission, Texas. A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, she was a charter member of Blessed Sacrament Church and twice president of the Ladies' Guild and a member of the St. Jerome Club. She was an active member of the former St. Patrick's Guild of St. Mary's Hospital and the Guild of St. Ann's Home until moving to Texas.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Mahlon (Matt) Matzen who was a John Hancock agent for thirty-three years and also a granddaughter, Janet Inzenga of Louisiana.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd O. Ross (Toad) of Mission, Texas; daughters, Judith Masel (Gerald) of West Memphis, Arkansas, Shirley Jewell (Albin) of Ventress, Louisiana; sons, Richard Matzen of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Thomas Matzen (Pug) of Dublin, Ohio. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, step-son, Ted Ross (Marcia); and a sister-in-law, Aleen Virdell.
A memorial service will be held today, May 12, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. Officiating will be Monsignor Robert DaVola of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Mission.
