     William C. Van Nostrand was born in 1855 at New York. He married Sarah Brown Fetzer, daughter of Bernard Fetzer and Caroline Kremer, circa 1908. William C. Van Nostrand died on 28 December 1929 at Baltimore, MD.

     Walter Cedric Van Order was born on 9 February 1932 at Schuyler Co., IL. He was the son of William Walter Van Order and Christine Chenoweth. Walter Cedric Van Order began military service Korean War service, Vietnam War service, U.S. Navy, 20 years service. He married Carolyn Grace Barkley, daughter of Frank J. Barkley and Irene Tressa Kirkpatrick, on 29 June 1985 at Vermont, Fulton Co., IL. Walter Cedric Van Order died on 4 December 2005 at Astoria, Fulton Co., IL, at age 73 Walter Cedric Van Order was his given name; Sonny was his nickname. Nobody but family ever knew him by his given name. And nobody, including family, ever referred or called him by his given name. He was Sonny to everyone who knew him.

Walter C. "Sonny" Van Order, 73, Vermont, died at 4:15 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, at Astoria Gardens, Astoria. He was born Feb. 9, 1932 in Flatwoods Neighborhood, NW of Vermont, Schuyler, Co., the son of William W alter and Christine (Chenoweth) Van Order. He married Carolyn Barkley Newcombe, June 29, 1985 in Vermont. She survives. He is also survived by one stepdaughter, Michelle (Joseph) Rossmiller, Macomb; one stepdaughter-in-law, Mary Lou Newcombe, Chicago; four step-grandchildren; and one aunt, Mildred Van Order Clauson, Peoria. He was preceded in death by one stepson, Michael Newcombe; and one half-sister, Ann Meyers. He was a bar manager for the Carroll Rankin American Legion Post #26 of Vermont. He was a 20 year Navy Veteran, retiring in 1971. He was a member of the Carroll Rankin American Legion Post #26 of Vermont, where he was a past Commander and was currently serving as Adjutant. He was a lifetime member of the Lewistown VFW Post 5001. He was a member of the American Bowling Congress for over 30 years and went to the National ABC Tournaments for over 20 years. Graveside services were held Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005 with Military rites provided by Carroll Rankin American Legion #26 of Vermont. Burial was at the Ipava Cemetery, Ipava. Memorials may be made to the Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice, 331 South Main, Virginia, Il. 62691. Shawgo Memorial Home, Astoria was in charge of arrangements.

William Walter VanOrder, 73, of Vermont, died at 11:48 P.M. Friday at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday at Kost Memorial Home in Vermont with the Rev. Carl Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Harris Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday evening.

Mr. VanOrder was born March 22, 1903, in Schuyler County, the son of Walter and Mary Elizabeth Johnson VanOrder. He married Christine Chenoweth Vance March 28, 1931, in Palmyra, MO. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Vermont Christian Church. Surviving are his wife; one son Walter of Vermont; one step-daughter, Mrs. Annabelle Myers of Galesburg; one brother, Lester of Paso Robles, Calif; one sister, Mrs. Mildred Clawson of Hanna City; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. One brother preceded him in death.

     Elmer L. Van Osdale was born on 18 May 1898 WW I draft registration.¹ He married Velma Lascher, A Cuyahoga County marriage license record shows Velma "Lacher", age 17, was given consent by her father Wendell Lacher to marry L. J. Carl Wriiker on 29 MAR 1917, and that the marriage was performed by R.R. Hawkins, J.P. on 29 MAR 1917. L. J. listed a Charles Wikert as his next of kin on his JUN 1918 WW I draft registration, and was living with his sister and brother in-law George Farrar in January, 1920 when the census was taken, marital status "S". Velma was living with her mother and brother Harold in January, 1920, using her maiden name and listed with marital status "S". The 1917 marriage apparently ended very quickly. DLB 2020.

Shirley Laverne Van Osdale and Clyde Ferd Wendell were divorced; This divorce is assumed, since Shirley Wendell married Gerald R. Hopperton on 13 AUG 1977 in Cuyahoga County. and divorced him on 8 FEB 1985. Shirley Laverne Van Osdale married Clyde Ferd Wendell, son of Francis Dana Wendell and Joan Gertrude Keller, on 2 March 1985 at Cuyahoga Co., OH, the marriage record indicates Shirley had been previously married four times and Clyde twice.      Alpha LaVerne Van Oyen was also known as "Red". He was born on 15 September 1909 at Nebraska. He was the son of William Van Oyen and Mary Luella Church. Alpha LaVerne Van Oyen married Velma Mildred Munsinger, daughter of Royal David Munsinger and Cora Melvina Holton, on 27 October 1928 at Fullerton, Nance Co., NE. Alpha LaVerne Van Oyen died on 27 October 1990 at Lewiston, Nez Perce Co., ID, at age 81.      Darlene M. Van Oyen was born on 24 October 1930 at Albion, Boone Co., NE. She was the daughter of Alpha LaVerne Van Oyen and Velma Mildred Munsinger. Darlene M. Before coming to Oregon, the bride-elect lived in Kansas and Colorado and attended schools there. She is now employed in the district traffic office of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph company, Eugene.

Mr. Van Patten attended Salem schools and Willamette university, later graduating from University of Oregon. He is now employed as a traffic engineer for the telephone company in Portland.

Robert Cuyler Van Patten, 86, passed away after a lengthy illness on July 25, 2007.

The 20 year resident of Palm Desert was born August 22, 1920 to Cuyler Van Patten and Lola Humphreys Van Patten in Salem, OR.

He attended Willamette University and was a graduate of the University of Oregon. He was in the 9th Service Command, US Army from 1942-1946. He worked for Pacific Northwest in Portland, OR as District Traffic Manager until retirement.

Survivors include the widow, Margaret Dale; son William Cuyler; daughter-in-law Karen Michelle; and grandson Daniel Cuyler.

He will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt, Kansas, among many generations of his wife’s ancestors.

He was buried in 2007 at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt, Pratt Co., KS.

     Sarah Van Pelt married Amos Ellis.

CRYSTAL LAKE – Howard W. Van Peursem, 85, of Crystal Lake, died Sunday, April 24, 2011, at Centegra Hospital – McHenry.

He was born March 21, 1926, in Maurice, Iowa, to Chester and Gertrude (Boonstra) Van Peursem. On Aug. 8, 1948, he married Jo Griffits in Mitchellville, Iowa.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He received his B.A. from Central College in Pella and M.A. from both University of Wisconsin-Madison and Northern Illinois University. He has been a resident of Crystal Lake since 1961. He was an educator who loved his students and had a great passion for his work. He served as principal at Cary-Grove High School for 18 years before retiring in 1988. He was also an avid Cubs fan.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jo; his children, Mark (Suzanne) Van Peursem and Susan Van Peursem; his brother, David (Minerva) Van Peursem; and his sister, Helen (the late Art) Kalsbeck.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. The visitation will continue from noon until the funeral at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 28, at First Congregational Church, 461 Pierson St., Crystal Lake. Interment will be in Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
