Mr. Wade, 83, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, September 5, 2006. He was born in Burke County, NC, son of the late Ernest E. and Iowa Sigmon Wade. He was a graduate of Central High School and served in the Army during World War II from 1942-1946. His family owned several of the first movie theaters in Belmont, where Ralph worked prior to owning and operating Watt's Hardware Store in Charlotte.
In his early years he was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Mr. Wade is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Jo Richardson Wade; daughters, Maria Wade Alion of Ft. Mill, SC and Lisa Wade Zavatsky and husband Russell of Charlotte; grandchildren, Alex Alion and Brittany Zavatsky; sisters, Olivia Wilson and Theresa Currie, both of Charlotte; brothers, Ernest E. Wade, Jr. and Donald E. Wade, both of Charlotte; and many nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2006 at Harry and Bryant Company, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday at Harry and Bryant Company.
He was buried in September 2006 at Sharon Memorial Park.

Coventry and at Perkiomen Seminary and Ursinus College; teacher for some years; read law and was admitted to the Bar of Chester Co., 1905; appointed Assistant District Attorney in 1911 and elected District Attorney, 1915. Appointed U.S. Asst. District Attorney, 1922, serving until 1923. Candidate for the nomination for State Senator on the Republican ticket, 1924.1

At the time of his death he was a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania, taking a course in arts and sciences. He entered Penn when but 13 years of age, being the youngest student ever to enter that institution.1
