He worked at the Vista del Rio Apartments for four years until he went to work for Sentinal Federal Savings and Loan. After ten years there, he retired and sold real estate another ten years. Max was preceded in death by his parents; a twin sister, Maxine Mae; daughter, Patricia Ann; his first wife, Mary Levell Bliven; brothers, Cecil and Lee Bliven; and sister, Marguerite Smith. Survivors include his wife of the last 34 years, Evelyn Rose Bliven; son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Jan Bliven; Evelyn's children and spouses, Randy and Mary O'Dell, Sharon O'Dell and Terry Green; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and sisters and a daughter, Maxine Bliven.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home with Rev. Denley Ganfield officiating. Cecil Schlichting was organist. Casket bearers were Donald Bliven, Thomas Carey, Rex Carey, Keith Carey, Justin Dee Schlichting and James E. Van Auken.
Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery.

Erika L. Kowsky, 66, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, a former resident of Chelan, died Friday in a Seattle hospital.
Born June 26, 1910, at Milwaukee, Wis., she later moved to Idaho.
In 1942, she married Albert Kowsky at Kellogg, Idaho, and the following year, they moved to Chelan. Her husband preceded her in death, June, 1965.
She made her home in Chelan until 1972 when she moved to Kellogg, Idaho, and later to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

On Oct. 28, 1919, she was married to Lloyd E. Lang in St. Cloud. Following their marriage, they farmed in Paynesville Township. Lloyd died March 29, 1968. Alda remained at home for many years following his death, until the fall of 1997, when she became a resident at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Paynesville. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Alda was a lifelong resident of Paynesville, and nearly reached her 101st birthday. She experienced many changes in her lifetime. She enjoyed quilting, traveling, and gardeningÐ especially flowers. During her younger years she enjoyed fishing with her homemade bamboo fishing pole.
Alda is survived by her sons, Llewellyn (Adeline) of Paynesville, Floyd of Paynesville, Gilmore (Jacqueline) of Sorrento, Fla., Arvid of Paynesville, Roger (Donna) of Eden Valley, and Leroy (Gloria) of Des Moines, Iowa; daughters, Juanita Moser of Paynesville, and Geraldine Bogatzki of Bertha; 31 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and son-in-law, Vince Vogelpohl.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Vergeane Vogelpohl; brothers, Arthur, Rudy, and Ben; and an infant sister.
She was buried in February 1999 at Paynesville Cemetery, Paynesville, Stearns Co., MN, Findagrave #43401678.
