R. Neill Walshe Taken by Death
A well-known El Paso attorney, R. Neill Walshe, died late yesterday in his home at 4100 North Stanton Street. Mr. Walshe was 50. He had been associated with the law firm of Walshe and Newman in recent years.
Mr. Walshe was a member of a pioneer El Paso family and was born here. His father began practicing law in El Paso in 1899. Mr. Walshe was past president of the El Paso Bar Assn., and a member of the State Bar of Texas. He was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States last June.
He had served as assistant U.S. district attorney and assistant City attorney in charge of tax and condemnation matters. He held the last post for 13 years on a part-time basis.
Mr. Walshe graduated from El Paso High School and attended Texas Western College. He received his law degree from the University of Texas Law School and was admitted to the bar in 1932. He was appointed as the first School Board attorney in 1934.
He served with the Army Signal Corps during World War II, entering in 1943. He was past president of the Owls Club and a member of St. Clement Episcopal Church.
Mr. Walsh is survived by his wife, Mrs. Argyra Walshe; a son, Robert Clive Walshe II; a daughter, Mrs. David S. Burkett; an aunt, Mrs. Hazel McCaffery, and one grand-daughter, all of El Paso. Funeral arrangements are pending with Kaster and Maxon Funeral Home.
