A Vancouver resident since 1950, Raymond C. Blystone died in a Portland hospital Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, of pneumonia. He was 85.
Mr. Blystone worked as a machine operator in the extrusion plant at Alcoa for 26 years.
He was a member of the Alcoa 25-Year Club.
He was born Aug. 9, 1915, in Cathay, N.D.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary V., at home; three daughters, Karen LaClergue and Laurie Creager, both of Vancouver, and Ruthann Hagensen of Vale, Ore; six sons, Jim, Clark and Jess, all of Vancouver, Gene of Camas, Kevin of Phoenix and Joe of Ridgefield; 26 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He loved music and played several instruments, including the violin, guitar, banjo, mandolin and organ.
Mr. Blystone served in the Royal Canadian Army during World War II.
A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at St. James Acres. The casket will be open from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. today at Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home.
