Burr, daughter of Isaac Burr and Mary Gilham, on 24 November 1867 at Noble Co., OH. Cyrus Wendell lived in June 1870 at Beaver Twp., Noble Co., OH.² He lived in 1880 at Oriole, Perry Co., IN.⁴ He died on 25 August 1927 at Pike Twp., Stoddard Co., MO, at age 86.      Cyrus W. Wendell was born on 8 September 1823 at Beaver Twp., Guernsey Co., OH.² He was the son of Daniel Wendell and Lucinda Effinger. Cyrus W. Wendell married Margaret Spears in 1840 at Aleppo Twp., Greene Co., PA. Cyrus W. Note that the 1840 census names him Daniel Windle "Senior" -- suspect one of the two unidentified sons was a Daniel "Junior" -- more research needed.⁴ He lived in 1850 at Huntington Twp., Ross Co., OH, Marriage dates and locations for daughters Rebecca and Maria suggest the relocation from Batesville to Ross County occurred in the summer of 1848.² He died on 18 November 1850 at Huntington Twp., Ross Co., OH, at age 59.      Daniel F. Wendell was born on 23 May 1844 at Beaver Twp., Guernsey (now Noble) Co., OH.² He was the son of Henry Harrison Wendell and Melissa M. Hopkins. Daniel F. Wendell began military service in February 1861 Company D, Seventh Ohio Volunteer Infantry

Wounded in the foot at the Battle of Pittsburg Landing (Shiloh), which wound eventually resulted in his premature death in 1870. He married Hannah L. Shaub on 8 December 1866. Daniel F. Wendell died in August 1870 at Noble Co., OH, at age 26.

     Deborah L. Wendell was born on 23 January 1956 at Ohio. She was the daughter of Kenneth H. Wendell and Lucy Marie English. Deborah L. Wendell died on 3 January 1981 at Akron, Summit Co., OH, at age 24.

     Della Mavis Wendell was born on 29 August 1920 at Greene Co. (probably), PA. She was the daughter of William Eddison Wendell and Elsie G. Gribben. Delores Ann Wendell died in March 1981 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., WV, at age 46.

She later married Albert Dolfi on 31 DEC 1998 at Las Vegas, Nevada.

Note: Grandpa Wendell was extremely reserved and serious 99% of the time. He was born as child #2 in a family of 9 children (who lived), in extreme poverty as tenant farmers in Guernsey County, and later Columbiana County, Ohio. After dropping out of school in the 8th grade, he went to work in the tire factories in Akron. He bought and read Dale Carnegie's How To Win Friends And Influence People, and put into practice every bit of that advice. He bought one suit and one pair of nice shoes (all he could afford), and wore those to go out in the evening and weekends and sell life insurance door to door. He worked his way up by sheer force of personality and persistence, through the ranks of National Life & Accident Insurance salesmen, until he was the District Manager for northeast Ohio, from which position he retired around 1958 or 1959. My parents would send me to stay with my grandparents for a couple of weeks in the summer -- once Grandpa bought me an airline ticket to fly with them from Dayton to Akron, when I was maybe 9 years old. Grandpa Wendell was a big influence on my development as a kid -- it was so sad that we lost him in 1968 when I was only 17. He had smoked all his life, and ended up with chronic debilitating emphysema. He loved fishing and hunting, and spent as much time as possible in these activities, until the last few years of his life when the emphysema became severe.

Stories told to his grandson:

"When my father William Wendell was a boy, their family was terribly poor. Their father would offer the boys a nickel to skip their dinner. Then next morning, if the boy who took the nickel wanted to eat breakfast, he had to pay the nickel back to his father."

"One winter there were lots of rabbits. My father bought some shotgun shells, and sent my brother Butch and I out with the shotgun, to shoot rabbits. He counted out some shells for us, and told us he wanted to see one rabbit for each shell. We were very careful and only took shots that we were sure of. One day, we shot a whole washtub full of rabbits. We cleaned them and mother canned the rabbit meat."

"One winter, the snow began to melt in January, in the corn stubble. Then came a cold snap, and the crust of snow froze in the shape it was melted, kind of draped over the rows of corn stubble in humps and valleys. We had a pair of ice skates that we shared, and you could start out on top of a hump, and glide down to a valley, and then glide up to the next hump, and just go all the way across the cornfield that way."      Edith Frances Wendell was born on 16 November 1895 at Putnam Co., WV, per West Virginia birth record. 1900 census erroneously shows 1894.¹ She was the daughter of George Nestor Wendell and Emeline Etta Greenleaf. Edith Frances Wendell married Benjamin R. Marvin on 4 April 1916 at Summit Co., OH. Edith Frances Wendell died on 11 July 1987 at Summit Co., OH, at age 91

Edith F. Marvin, 91, died July 11, 1987.

Mrs. Marvin was a homemaker. She was born in Spencer, W. Va., and lived in the Akron area since 1910. She was a member of the Goodyear Heights United Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Marvin operated the first telephone switchboard in West Richfield.

Mrs. Marvin is survived by son, George Marvin of Akron; daughter, Mrs. Viola Artymovich of Arizona; son, James Marvin of California; sisters, Ethel Walter and Florence Belchambers, both of Akron; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
