     Vernon Loyd Wilka was born on 27 December 1913 at Heizer, Barton Co., KS; son of George and Mary E. (Anderson) Wilka, per SS Applications and Claims Index. He married Opal Davault, daughter of Frederick Adolph Davault and Alma Sue Dyerly, between 1 April 1935 and April 1940. Vernon Loyd Wilka began military service on 6 November 1942 WW II service, U.S. Navy, enlisted, discharged 13 OCT 1945. He died on 10 December 1996 at age 82; per SSDI, last residence Wichita. He was buried in December 1996 at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt, Pratt Co., KS, Findagrave #76144923.

     Florence J. Wilke was born in January 1898 at Jackson Co. (probably), IA. She was the daughter of Fred H. Wilche and Catherine Hanson.

     G. Wayne Wilke was born on 22 February 1900 at Jackson Co. (probably), IA. He was the son of Fred H. Wilche and Catherine Hanson.

     Louise Marie Wilke was also known as "Mattie". She was born on 29 January 1895 at Augusta Twp., Des Moines Co., IA.¹ She married Orval Ora Buxton on 3 March 1915 at Des Moines Co., IA. Louise Marie Wilke died on 18 April 1981 at Oregon at age 86. She was buried in April 1981 at Evergreen Memorial Park, Forest Grove, Washington Co., OR.

     Chester Marvin Wilkerson was born on 13 January 1922 at Marshalltown, Marshall Co., IA.¹ He was the son of Harry O. Wilkerson and Edith Price.

     Sgt. Maj, Donald R. Wilkerson was born on 27 May 1919 at Ohio.¹ He was the son of Jacob F. Wilkerson and Carrie Mae Kelly.² Sgt. Maj, Donald R. Wilkerson married Thelma Laura Berry, daughter of Willis Orland Berry and Mabel C. Marmon, circa 1936. Sgt. Maj, Donald R. Wilkerson began military service WW II service, U.S. Army, European Theater. He retired in 1969 as a sergeant major. He was one of the first U.S. soldiers to liberate Dachau Concentration Camp.

He died on 28 July 2004 at Riley Co., KS, at age 85 Dates per SSDI, last residence Manhattan. He was buried in 2004 at Ft. Riley Post Cemetery, Ft. Riley, Geary Co., KS.

     Elizabeth Frances Wilkerson was born on 20 December 1824 at Virginia. She married Duncan R. Stanley on 24 June 1841 at Livingston Co., MO. Elizabeth Frances Wilkerson died on 28 August 1891 at Chariton Co., MO, at age 66.

     Harry O. Wilkerson was born on 19 September 1896.¹ He was the son of Hollis E. Wilkerson and Allie Ray. Harry O. Wilkerson married Edith Price, daughter of Lyman Chase Price and Ida May Grush, on 8 April 1920, Ceremony performed by Rev. H. L. Lewis.¹ Occupation: Farmer in 1926. Harry O. Wilkerson was Church of Christ. He died in August 1967 at Albion, Marshall Co., IA, at age 70.²

     Helen Irene Wilkerson was born on 21 July 1915 at Keokuk, Lee Co., IA. She was the daughter of John Joseph Wilkerson and Effie Rae McCoy. Helen Irene Wilkerson died in 1916.

     Hollis E. Wilkerson married Allie Ray.

     Jacob F. Wilkerson was born in 1897 at Indiana.¹ He married Carrie Mae Kelly.¹ Jacob F. Wilkerson died in 1977. He was buried in 1977 at Fairview Cemetery, Belle Center, Logan Co., OH, Find A Grave Memorial# 30175070.

     John Wilkerson married Florence Secore.

     John Joseph Wilkerson was born in 1879 at Kentucky. He was the son of John Wilkerson and Florence Secore. John Joseph Wilkerson married Effie Rae McCoy, daughter of Silas Bennett McCoy and Martha Ellen Davalt, on 4 June 1913 at Lee Co., IA. John Joseph Wilkerson and Effie Rae McCoy were divorced before January 1920.

There is an incarceration record for a John Wilkerson of Lee County, Iowa, sentenced 28 Mar 1910 for Breaking and Entering to a maximum of 10 years at the Anamosa Men's Reformatory in Jones County, Iowa. John was shown there in the 1910 Census. In the census record it shows that he was born in Kentucky about 1883. This John WIlkerson was paroled on 17 Apr 1912 and pardoned on 14 May 1913. This may be our John Joseph Wilkerson. His incoming record shows him age 26, but the April, 1910 census shows him age 27. I suspect he lied to the police and court about his age in hopes of getting leniency on the sentence. He may or may not be the same John Wilkerson listed on the 1920 census at Laramie, Wyoming.      Mae Josephine Wilkerson was born on 19 March 1914 at Keokuk, Lee Co., IA. She was the daughter of John Joseph Wilkerson and Effie Rae McCoy. Mae Josephine Wilkerson married Elmer Franklin Foster, son of Milton Byron Foster and Anna Ocelia Lewallen, on 8 December 1931 at Macomb, McDonough Co., IL. Mae Josephine Foster, 103 years, nine months, eight days, of Keokuk, went to rest in the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017.
She was born March 19, 1914, in Peoria, Ill., the daughter of John Joseph and Effie Rae McCoy Wilkerson. She was united in marriage to Elmer Franklin Foster on Dec. 8, 1931, in Macomb, Ill. He preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 1985.
Mae graduated from Keokuk High School.
She was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church in Keokuk for many years, where she played the organ and piano, and was a Sunday school teacher. She later joined the United Presbyterian Church in Keokuk, where she also was very active.
Mae was raised by her grandparents, Sylis and Martha McCoy. As a child, she loved to sit around the piano and sing, while Elmer accompanied her with his guitar. She enjoyed long car rides. Mae kept her mind sharp by working crossword puzzles. She was a gardener with a green thumb and grew beautiful flowers. Mae loved small children and they loved her. She adored her children and grandchildren, and she was very devoted to caring for her handicapped son, Lani.
She is survived by one son, Lani Foster of Keokuk; two daughters, Diana R. (Gary) Grice and Rebeckah (Colin) Kelly, both of Keokuk; four grandchildren, R. Shawne Grice of Burlington, Bryan F. Grice of Keokuk, Shayne Kelly of Keokuk and Nathan (Cherie) Kelly of Keokuk; seven great grandchildren, Ethan, Noah, Gabriella, Sheanna, Shelby, Addison Mae, Andrew Kelly; two great-great grandchildren, Vanna and Titus Kelly; several nieces and nephews; and her adopted daughter and caregiver, Norma Miller of Keokuk.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her; her parents; one sister, Helen Irene Wilkerson, in infancy; and two nieces, Dorine Kain and Iola Schneider.
A memorial service will be held in the spring.

Note: Dorrine Etrula (Foster) Kain (1921 - 2016) was the daughter of Samuel Aquila Foster and Julia Calkins. Samuel was Elmer Franklin Foster's brother. Annie Iola May (Beeching) Schneider (1918 - 2009) was the daughter of Archie Willis Beeching and Ida Viola Foster. Ida was Elmer Franklin Foster's sister. Elmer had many more nieces and nephews not mentioned in Mae’s obituary.

     Harry James Wilkes was born on 18 January 1900 at Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., PA. He married Marjorie May Stuff, daughter of Jeremiah Samuel Stuff and Ida Louella Pyfer, on 13 October 1940. Occupation: owner, Wilkes Television Repair Co. in 1965 at 9814 Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Maricopa Co., AZ. Harry James Wilkes died on 30 December 1966 at Lincoln Hospital, Phoenix, Maricopa Co., AZ, at age 66. He was buried in January 1967 at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Dixon, Lee Co., IL.

     Abraham Wilkin was born in November 1822 at New Market Twp., Highland Co., OH.^2,3 He was the son of George Wilkin and Susannah Windle.² Abraham Wilkin married Abigail (?). Abraham Wilkin married Amy Luke on 2 March 1863 at Highland Co., OH. Abraham Wilkin married Rebecca M. (?) circa 1887 at Highland Co., OH.³

     Abraham Wilkin was born circa 1853 at New Market Twp., Highland Co., OH.¹ He was the son of William Wilkin and Catherine Layman.¹

     Absolom Wilkin was born on 30 July 1817 at Woodstock, Shenandoah Co., VA.¹ He was the son of John Henry Wilkin and Hannah Swartz.¹
Note: "It was one fine Sunday afternoon that cousin Absalom, who with my father, had so many apples, and who built a distillery down by the brook, in a deep and beautiful forest, and had invited us to join him in making this elixir of life, came to our house in a terrible excitement, asking us to come down to his house for there was a man in his yard, who he thought was dying of a frightful fit. This man had come to him and asked for a drink of brandy, saying, if I did not give him some at once he would die. I did not give him any, said he, and sure enough he went into such spasms as made me afraid. 'So I have come to you.' I remember how we all ran down to see this strange and sad sight. When I got there, a most terrible spectacle greeted my eyes. ..... A seemingly strong, young man, with blue lips and staring eyes--wide open--looking into the bright sun, lay before me. He was dead. Absolom Wilkin married Elizabeth Martin on 25 March 1861.² Absolom Wilkin died on 8 December 1906 at Granville, Monroe Co., MO, at age 89.¹

     Alberta Irene Wilkin was born on 7 July 1921 at Ohio. She was the daughter of Joseph Nathaniel Wilkin and Lucia J. Stroup. Alberta Irene Wilkin married John Gunsauley circa 1940 at Ohio. Alberta Irene Wilkin died on 29 September 1949 at Ohio at age 28.

     Alice Wilkin was born on 13 August 1833 at Woodstock, Shenandoah Co., VA.¹ She was the daughter of John Henry Wilkin and Hannah Swartz.¹ Alice Wilkin married Samuel Walter, son of Daniel Walter and Anna M. (?).² Alice Wilkin lived in 1860 at Powell's Fort, Shenandoah Co., VA.³ She died on 30 November 1908 at age 75.¹

     Allen Wilkin was born on 12 March 1856 at New Market Twp., Highland Co., OH. He was the son of Joseph Wilkin and Nancy Roush. Allen Wilkin died on 1 January 1873 at New Market Twp., Highland Co., OH, at age 16.
