     Henry Windle died at Harrison Co., IN. Cause of death: Died young, killed by a plow. He was born in May 1808 at Strasburg, Shenandoah Co., VA, Churchbook, p.47. He was the son of Augustine Wendel and Barbara Keller.

     Henry's great grandfather was Valentine Windle, a native of Germany, who came with three brothers to this country at an early period, and settled in Virginia, on the South Branch of the Potomac. His grandfather was Peter Windle, and his grandmother, Rachel (Wolf) Windle, of Virginia. They came to Ohio in 1795, and purchased a tract of land on Paint Creek, this county, containing six hundred acres. The portion on which they located is now owned by Burton Vesey. Their family consisted of four sons and eight daughters.
     Henry's father was Abraham Windle, born in Pendleton County, Virginia. February 25, 1786, but came to Ohio with his father's family. He united in marriage July 1822, with Sarah Smith, Joel Woods Esq, officiating. She was born September 5, 1823, and died June 15, 1840. James M., born April 16, 1825, and died August 11, 1827. Henry, our subject, was born May 28, 1827.

     The Windle family were noted for industry and honesty. The emigrants to this country in an early day were often found destitute of means. Such always met a kind reception, and found a liberal hand at Windle's.
     At the death of his father, in 1863, Henry fell heir not only to the homestead, but to a farm of several hundred acres in Missouri, well improved, and at the death of his mother, which occurred September 28, 1879, he inherited a valuable farm on Paint, which she owned before her marriage. In addition, Henry controls a large and valuable farm belonging to Clarissa his wife, whom he married November 12, 1850, and divided from her fathers (Joseph Hidy) estate. Henry and Clarissa occupy one of the finest houses in this county, with a beautiful lawn, adorned by choicest evergreens. Henry started out to take life easy, and has very nearly made a success of it. He is blessed with a more than ordinary mental powers. He has a great taste for instrumental music, and is somewhat of a genius in that line. Earlier in life he was very fond of hunting. He relishes a discussion on some theological questions, more than a warm breakfast. He possesses fine flow of spirit, receives his friends with open arms, but takes very little pleasure in the society of his enemies. In religion he is a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. In Politics he is a Democrat. His excellent wife does well her part in keeping up their cozy home. Henry Windle was born on 28 May 1827 at Fayette Co., OH.      Henry Windle was born on 14 May 1848 at Shenandoah Co., VA.^1,2 He was the son of Richard Wendel and Naomi Wilkin.¹ Henry Windle married Mary Magdalene Gochenour, daughter of Levi Gochenour and Mary Wisman, in 1873 at Shenandoah Co., VA.^2,3 Henry Windle died in 1901.      Henry August Windle was born on 18 November 1897 at Bond Co., IL.¹ He was the son of William Grant Windle and Martha Rosette Bruner.¹ Henry August Windle lived between 1918 and 1938 at McLean Co., IL, Henry was living at Chenoa when he registered for the WW I draft. He and a wife Mary are listed in the Blooming city directories in 1922, 1923, 1924, 1926, 1928 and again in 1936 and 1938. I believe these were two different wives, each named Mary. He was in California by 1948 where he is listed in voter registrations. He married Mary M. Gandy, daughter of George Gandy and Mary Jane Beigel, circa 1921. Henry August Windle married Mary Beatty, daughter of Andrew Beatty and Elizabeth Otto, in 1936. Henry August Windle lived in 1969 at Hawthorne, Los Angeles Co., CA. He died on 6 February 1970 at Los Angeles Co., IL, at age 72. He was buried in February 1970 at Pacific Crest Cemetery, Redondo Beach, Los Angeles Co., CA, Findagrave #163626088.

     Henry Clay Windle was born circa 1856 at Macon Co. (probably), MO.¹ He was the son of George Henry Harrison Windle and Virginia Jenetta Lovern.¹

     Henry David Windle was born on 2 April 1903 at Fairview, Shenandoah Co., VA.¹ He was the son of George Washington Windle and Ophia Catherine Felller.¹ Henry David Windle married Helen Lucille Smoot, daughter of Otis Smoot and Daisy Bowers, on 11 January 1938. Henry Julian Windle lived on 25 April 1910 at Fairland, Ottawa Co., OK.² He lived on 14 January 1920 at Quawpaw, Ottawa Co., OK.³ He died on 29 May 1928 at age 46.      Hettie Jane Windle was born on 11 October 1871 at Jackson Co., WV. She was the daughter of Robert Hanger Windle and Rebecca Ann Morris. Hettie Jane Windle married Frederick Armstrong Casto, son of Martin Casto and Elizabeth Johns, on 9 October 1892 at Jackson Co., WV. Hettie Jane Windle died on 17 January 1905 at age 33.

     Homer Windle was born in September 1893 at Pickens Co., AL.¹ He was the son of Davis Whitmore Windle and Samantha H. Jones. Homer Windle died in March 1920 at age 26.

     Horace Windle was born circa 1909 at Ft. Worth, Tarrant Co., TX.¹ He was the son of David G. Windle and Mary Frances Hall.¹
