George Boone

     George Boone was baptized in 1666 at Stoke Canon, Devonshire, England. He was born in 1666 at Stoke Canon, Devonshire, England. He was the son of George Boone and Sarah Uppey. Occupation: Weaver in 1689 at Stoke Canon, Devonshire, England. George Boone married Mary Milton Maugridge, daughter of John Maugridge and Mary Milton, in 1689 at England. George Boone was a member of the Church of England, which he quit in 1702 to join the Society of Friends (Quakers). Member, Callumpton Meeting.

In America, joined Gwynedd Monthly Meeting, Exeter, Berks, PA. He emigrated on 17 August 1717 from Bristol, England. He immigrated on 10 October 1717 to Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co., PA; In 1713 George Boone sent his three oldest children to Pennsylvania Colony to find suitable land. They settled in Berks County with other Quaker families. In 1717 George and Mary Boone and their other six children made the voyage and joined the first three children in Berks County. He died on 27 July 1744 at Oley Twp., Berks Co., PA.
