Frederick Francis Woodward died on 13 August 2008 at Lake City, Missaukee Co., MI, at age 84 Obituary:

Frederick Woodward, 84, passed away August 13 at Belle Oakes Assisted Living Center, Lake City, MI. Frederick was born on May 17, 1924 to Richard Woodward and Helen (Ahrens) Woodward in Philadelphia, PA. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II as radioman on a LSM and was at the landing at Iwo Jima. He attended the University of Michigan and was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity in school, and continued as an active member for many years. Fred was employed by Eastern Airlines for 35 years. His work provided the family opportunities to travel to many places, including Europe and Hong Kong. He was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Royal Oak, Michigan and belonged to the “Rolling Hills” camping club, located north of the Detroit area on Mud Lake. Many fond memories with family and friends were made there. Both he and his wife, Prudence (“Pat”) volunteered at the Detroit Zoo in their lovely butterfly garden and went on every zoo trip that was offered. They were also volunteer ushers at the Fisher Theater. Fred was a member of the YMCA Indian Guides with son Charlie. His first love was his garden and all things that grew, even though he was known to over-water them (even the artificial ones). He is survived by his wife, Prudence (Triem) Woodward; two sisters, Dr. Virginia Woodward of Bloomington, Indiana, and Priscilla Woll of Rixeyville, Virginia; four sons, Rev. Richard (Martha) Woodward of Dunstable, Massachusetts; William (Patti) Woodward of Lake City, Michigan; John (Gwen) Woodward of Ames, Iowa; and Rev. Charles (Lisa) Woodward of Westerville, Ohio; and nine grandchildren, Isaac (Meghan), Karl, Bethany, Allyscia, Patricia, Nicholas, Andrew, Ethan, and Paul Woodward; and the newest addition, RuthAnne, his great-granddaughter, nine months old. He will be welcomed home by those who have gone before him: Brother John Woodward, and grandson, Daniel Woodward, both who died as infants; brothers-in-law, Arthur Woll and John Triem, as well as parents, other family and friends. Memorial services will be held on a date and time yet to be determined at Belle Oakes Assisted Living Center, Lake City, and on August 21st at 11:00 am at the First Congregational Church, Royal Oak. There is also an opportunity to meet and visit with the family at the First Congregational Church on August 20th from 4 - 7 pm. Interment will be in the First Congregation Church’s memorial garden. Memorials may be directed to the First Congregational Church of Royal Oak or Heartland Hospice of Michigan.
