Catherine Eileen (Bucher) Eckert, 82, of Schaefferstown, formerly of Harleysville, passed away April 3, 2016. She and her husband, Kenneth G. Eckert, observed their 18th wedding anniversary on September 8th of last year.

Born August 16, 1933 in Lansdale, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Mildred (Hobson) Bucher. She was a graduate of Souderton High School.

Mrs. Eckert was artistic and creative. She cared deeply for animals and enjoyed gardening, baking, and spending time near the water. She did volunteer work for Historic Schaefferstown, Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon, and Peter Becker Community in Harleysville.

In addition to her husband, she was survived by a daughter, Gretchen Glanco and her husband, Stephen, of Pittsburgh; a sister, Joyce Becker of Skippack; a granddaughter, Catherine Glanco; and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were private at Delp’s Burial Ground in Harleysville.

She was buried in April 2016 at Delps Cemetery, Harlesyville, Montgomery Co., PA, Findagrave #160497593.

Robert Clemens Bucher

Robert Clemens Bucher, age 96, a lifetime Lower Salford resident and former township supervisor, died Sunday, March 16, at Peter Becker Community, where he lived since 2001. He was the husband of Mildred E. Bucher, who died in 1993.

Born in Harleysville, he was the son of the late Herbert S. And Edna Bean (Clemens) Bucher.

Robert graduated from Souderton High School and Ursinus College with a bachelor’s in chemistry.

He was employed by D.U. DuPont, Wilmington, and Fleers Inc. as a research chemist. After retirement, he continued as a consultant for Dande Corp. Of Denmark. Mr. Bucher was founder of the following – Lower Salford Historians, Pennsylvania Log House Society, Historic Schaefferstown, Heckler-Fest.

Robert was a member of Indian Creek Church of the Brethren, Harleysville, where he was a Sunday school teacher for 50 years.

He is survived by two daughters, Catherine E. Eckert of Schaefferstown and Joyce A. Becker of Skippack, seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald C. And Jacob C. Bucher; and a great-granddaughter, Katelyn Joy Derstine.

The funeral service will take place Friday, March 21, 11 a.m. at Indian Creek Church of the Brethren, 821 Main St., Harleysville, PA 19438. Viewing 10-11 a.m. Interment in Delp Family Burial Ground. Eleanor Jane Erickson was born June 1, 1919 in Warren, Ohio to Julius Buchholzer and Kathleen Shaw Buchholzer.

She studied dance throughout high school, taking as many as five lessons a week. She even began teaching tap dancing for her gym teacher and on playgrounds during the summers.

Eleanor ran her own school of dance and produced a live television show every Saturday in Cleveland.

Eleanor married Charles Theodore “Chuck” Erickson on December 3, 1953, sold her business and moved to Los Angeles. There she volunteered teaching for many years at the Girl’s Club in Hollywood. Later she taught tap classes to members of the Hollywood Presbyterian Church choir and she choreographed variety shows for the church.

She was active in Phi Beta and supported Alzheimers research and the Neighborhood Music Organization.

She was buried in December 2015 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles Co., CA, Findagrave #163735703.

Julius Wendell Buchholzer, 82, died Nov. 22, 1994.

He was born in Alliance and lived most of his life in Akron. Mr. Buchholzer was a 60-year member of Loyalty Lodge 645, an Army veteran of World War II, and was a Prisoner of War. Mr. Buchholzer was the founder and owner of Summit Sound Systems.

He is survived by wife, Edna; daughter and son-in-law, Karen Jane and Thomas Stevens; daughter, Julie Rae; granddaughter, Jennifer Leigh Stevens; brothers, Richard B. and Bruce H. Buchholzer; sister, Eleanor Jane Erickson; and sister-in-law, Frances S. Buchholzer.
