     Eliza Catherine Clapp was born on 19 December 1875 at Missouri.¹ She was the daughter of John Clapp and Mary Luanna Hoover.¹ Eliza Catherine Clapp married Alva E. McClanahan. Eliza Catherine Clapp died on 13 April 1958 at Oklahoma at age 82.

     George Clapp was born on 8 February 1817 at Randolph Co., NC.¹ He married Eliza Jane White on 27 May 1835 at Edgar Co., IL. George Clapp died on 6 November 1874 at Butler Co., NE, at age 57.

     Ida Louise Clapp was born on 2 February 1870 at Missouri.¹ She was the daughter of John Clapp and Mary Luanna Hoover.¹ Ida Louise Clapp died on 27 October 1888 at age 18.

     John Clapp was born on 10 December 1841 at Illinois.¹ He was the son of George Clapp and Eliza Jane White.¹ John Clapp married Mary Luanna Hoover, daughter of George Hoover and Catherine Kremer, on 18 October 1866 at Coles Co., IL. John Clapp died on 12 December 1880 at Missouri at age 39.

     Lulu Estella Clapp was born on 2 August 1872 at Missouri.¹ She was the daughter of John Clapp and Mary Luanna Hoover.¹ Lulu Estella Clapp died on 17 December 1881 at Carroll Co. (probably), MO, at age 9.

     Nehemiah Clapp married Sarah Leavitt, daughter of Deacon John Leavitt and Sarah Gilman, on 17 April 1678.

     Ota John Clapp was born on 14 June 1880 at Carroll Co., MO.¹ He was the son of John Clapp and Mary Luanna Hoover.¹ Ota John Clapp lived on 18 June 1900 at Bloomfield Precinct, San Juan Co., NM.¹ He lived on 25 April 1910 at Chickasaw, Grady Co., OK.²

     Richard Eugene Clapp was born on 12 August 1916 at Spring Grove, Wayne Co., IN, birth certificate. He married Frances Isabel Ellison, On the 1940 census, Frances and Tina were listed living with Frances' parents in Union City, Ohio, and Richard was not there. On his 16 OCT 1940 WW II draft registration, Richard listed Frances as his "person who will always know your address" and listed her as his wife, but the draft registration was corrected to show that he did not live at the address given for her. Richard and Frances appear to have had a second daughter together, Vickie Lee Clapp, born about 1944 who married Robert Lexa in 1963 and Frederick Winsett in 1965, both in Los Angeles County. Richard later remarried to Edith Irene Eaton (1925-2012) and Frances remarried to John W. Piper in California in 1967. DLB 2020.¹ Richard Eugene Clapp began military service on 14 April 1942 WW II service, U.S. Navy, enlisted, released 1 SEP 1945. He died on 7 August 1992 at Reid Hospital, Richmond, Wayne Co., IN, at age 75 SSDI, last residence New Madison, Darke Co., OH.

     Alpha Elizabeth Clapper was also known as "Libby". She was born on 3 October 1909 at Muskingum Co., OH. She was the daughter of Thomas Harrison Clapper and Dessie Deane Dutro. Alpha Elizabeth Clapper married Richard William Hill, son of Charles Cleveland Hill and Ada Olive Leasure, in 1932. Alpha Elizabeth Clapper died on 13 May 1983 at Granville, Licking Co., OH, at age 73

Charles served as a Pvt with the celebrated 109 Infantry Regiment, 55th Heavy Brigade, 28th Infantry Division. Winning battle honors. at Champagne, Champagne-Maine, Aisne-Marne, Oise-Aisne, Lorraine and Meuse Argonne. Price for their glory was costly as over one hundred per cent of the Regiment was wounded from the time it began at full strength to the day of the Armistice on November 11, 1918. This grim evidence left no doubt in the ranks of the 109th Infantry that they had participated in one of man kinds most terrible wars. I Bob Hill, remember sitting next to him as a little boy on his farmhouse front porch. He had trouble breathing as he was gassed and walked with a limp which came as a result of a wound incurred during WW1.

Eleanor Dean Perkins, 90
WHITE COTTAGE - Eleanor Dean Perkins, 90, of South Zanesville, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Monday, April 28, 2008.
She was born July 15, 1917, to the late Harrison and Desi Dean Clapper. Eleanor, known as "Perkie" by many, married the love of her life Harris Perkins on Nov. 17, 1934. They celebrated 65 years of marriage before Mr. Perkins died in an auto accident in November 1992.
Perkie was loved by all who knew her. She was especially loved by her family, to whom she dedicated her life.
She is survived by four children, Harris (Lois) Perkins of Granville, Phyllis (Levi) Stoneburner of Zanesville, Jack (Judy) Perkins of Bradenton, Fla., and Linda (the late Thomas) Bramlish of Pataskala. She cherished 11 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two precious companions, her cat "Perkie 2" and dog "Jamaica."
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother; and two sisters.
Eleanor had a passion for nature evidenced by her yard full of trees, flowering gardens and bird feeders. She knew the scent, sound and name of each creation found on "God and Perkie's little acre." Perkie was a courageous, strong, yet very gentle woman. She found good in every person and any situation. She was never at a loss for words, offering wisdom, encouragement, kindness and pardon to all she met. Her 90 years of life were full of those things she held most dear: faith, family, friends and flowers. God has surely added a precious and beautiful bloom to heaven's garden.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 5765 Gladstone Drive, White Cottage.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2008, at the funeral home with the Revs. Joy French and Mark Fulkerson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

George was a Pvt. of the 160th Reg. Ohio National Guard during the Civil War. The 160th Ohio Infantry was organized in Zanesville, Ohio and mustered in May 12, 1864 for 100 days service under the command of Colonel Cyrus Reasoner.
The regiment left Ohio for Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, May 12. Detached for duty guarding supply train at Martinsburg. Assigned to Reserve Division, Department of West Virginia, May 25. Moved to Woodstock, Virginia. Detached and moved to Martinsburg in charge of supply trains. Newtown May 29-30. Skirmish at Middletown June 7. Operations in the Shenandoah Valley in charge of wagon trains until July. Operations about Harpers Ferry July 4-7. Maryland Heights July 6-7. Duty in the trenches about Harpers Ferry until August 25.
The 160th Ohio Infantry mustered out of service September 9, 1864.
