Mr. Leith W. Cloer, 87, of Morganton, N.C., left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father, on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at the Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley, after a period of declining health.
Leith was born June 27, 1921, in Burke County, to the late John Alexander Cloer and Ella Perry Cloer.
He was a member of Bridgewater Presbyterian Church and he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II before settling in the Bridgewater Community where he went to work in the furniture industry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Hildebrand Cloer.
Survivors include his two sons, Ron Cloer and his wife, Debra, of Oak Hill and Mike Cloer and his wife, Joyce, of the home in Bridgewater; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He will be especially missed by his little buddy, grandson Alex of the home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Bridgewater Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Craven officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Bridgewater Presbyterian Church.

He was buried in May 2009 at Bridgewater Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Bridgewater, Burke Co., NC.

She was born Sept. 6, 1949, in Fort Worth.

The survivors include her husband, William B. Hettick of North Richland Hills; sons, Brent Arthur Hettick and Curtis Parker, both of North Richland Hills; daughters, Sherry Lin Murphy and Amy Jean Hettick, both of North Richland Hills; mother, Jean Cloke; mother and father-in-law, Wilma and Fred Hettich; sisters, Victoria Mallory and her husband, Skip, and Gail E. Alfred Burton Closson married Lucinda Winwood Rodgers, daughter of Robert Sinclair Rodgers and Edith Ann Winwood, on 15 June 1929. A. Burton Closson, 92, chairman of the A.B. Closson Jr. Co. in downtown Cincinnati, died Monday in his Indian Hill Home. Mr. Closson graduated from Yale University in 1920 and became involved in the operation of the furniture and art store founded in 1866 by his grandfather, A.B. Closson Jr. Except for two years, the store had remained in the Fourth and Race streets block. Mr. Closson was active in the business until a year ago, said his son, A. Burton Closson Jr., who is now Closson's president. Mr. Closson was active in numberous organizations. He was chairman of the Fire Arts Fund drive in 1951 and was interested in all aspects of are, serving as a trustee of the Cincinnati Institute of Fine Arts, Cincinnati Art Museum and Taft Museum. He was chairman of the trustees the Cincinnati Retail Merchants Association. Mr. Closson was a member of the Camargo Country Club, Cincinnati Country Club and the Racquet and Tennis Club of New York City. He was a founder and the first president of the Bachelors. Besides his son, he is survived by two granddaughters, Lucinda Closson Dean of Manama, Bahrain, and Laura Closson Hyde of Bronxville, N.Y., and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Norman Chapel at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Ave., Winton Place. There will be no visitation. Schaefer & Busby Funeral home is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Greater Cincinnati Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice.
