John and Sue Nelson were married February 9, 1947 in Wellington.
He was a farmer and rancher, member of the Church of Christ, charter member of the Wellington Lions Club where he held various offices including Tail Twister, and also a member of the Wellington County Club. He received the Honorary Future Farmer Degree from the FFA, served on the Board of Directors of the Collingsworth County Farm Bureau and was a former Little League coach.
He is survived by his wife, Sue; three daughters and their spouses, Susan and Dee Green of Childress, Linda and Dickie Johnson of Wellington, and Kay and Steve Williams of Waco; one son and daughter-in-law, Samuel John Coffee and Kenda of Pampa; four sisters, Judy Manuel of Wellington, Bertha Stiles of Omaha, NE and Allie Minyard of Lubbock and Della Mae Estes of Irving and nine grandchildren, Matthew and Eric Green, Brandon and Brent Coffee, Lucas, Chelsea and Ethan Johnson and Garrett and Grant Williams.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Alger Lee Coffelt, 83, of Edinburg, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Winchester Medical Center.
He was born November 5, 1932 in Woodstock, Virginia, and was the son of the late Joseph Melvin and Goldie Windle Coffelt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Brett Allen Cooper.
Mr. Coffelt was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Korea.
He was a farm manager most of his life. He raised Angus cattle and thousands of turkeys during his career.
In his younger days, he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. In his retirement years he loved to go camping with his family and friends.
Mr. Coffelt is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Baker Coffelt; three daughters, Jane Ryman (Dwayne) of Edinburg, Joan Fletcher (Robert) of Edinburg and Julie Cooper (Butch) of Woodstock; six grandchildren, Dawn deCourcy, Matthew deCourcy (Stephanie), Jarrett Cooper (Nicole), Jordan Cooper, Skyler Fletcher (Ashleigh) and Jennifer Wiatrowski (David); and five great-grandchildren.
He was buried in May 2016 at Cedarwood Cemetery, Edinburg, Shenandoah Co., VA, Findagrave #45137367.
