After graduation, she attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri and the University of Minnesota, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. After graduation, she returned to Oklahoma City where she became an elementary school teacher. On January 11, 1942, she married Lester W. Holbrook. They were married 44 years before his death in 1986. They had two children, Win and Phillip. Elma loved the time she spent with her family including traveling and going to the lake. She was an active member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and the Beacon Sunday School class. Elma was an avid reader and cherished her friendships in her book club, sewing club, mahjong club, and her bridge club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester, and her brother Harry E. Cook, Jr. of Anadarko. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Win and Anne Holbrook of Oklahoma City and Phillip and Sarah Holbrook of Edmond. She has five grandchildren, whom she cherished: Michael Holbrook of Galveston, TX, Lisa McDonald and her husband Mike of Oklahoma City, Sarah Holbrook of Miami, FL, Ryan Holbrook of Norman and Lindsay Holbrook of Edmond. She has three great-grandchildren, Andrew, William and Helen McDonald of Oklahoma City. Elma was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
