Vernal Lewis Corder was born in Bible Grove, a son of Elmer Rolla and Arie Adeline Lewis Corder. He married Norma J. [Jean] Lane on Dec. 20, 1967, in Farmer City. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Michael Riggs; two daughters, Dolores Jean Shine and Terry Charlene Kidd; one brother, Ivan Corder; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Mr. Corder was a retired truck driver who had served in the Army during World War II.
He was a member of Teamsters Union No. 26 in Champaign and Danville, the Fred O'Malley Post 6190 Veteran of Foreign Wars, Farmer City; and a former member of the Joe Williams Post 55 American Legion, Farmer City.

Harold was born on August 18, 1929 in Beatrice, Nebraska to John and Milesey (Larimore) Corey.

He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1947.

He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force from December 28, 1950 to December 6, 1954.

Harold married Carole Kassebaum on June 15, 1957 in Beatrice. They were blessed with two children.

He owned and operated Harold’s Shoe Repair then retired after 30 years at Bell’s Western Wear. Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting coins, gardening, fish frys, antique stores, flea markets, his kids and grandkids and his cat Buffy.

Harold E. Corey, 88 years of age, of Beatrice passed away with family by his side Friday, June 8, 2018 at his home.

Harold is survived by his wife, Carole; son, Doug Corey and wife Crystal; daughter, Julie Williams and husband Michael; grandchildren, Samantha Corey and husband Dray Monday, Katelynn and Dillon Corey, all of Beatrice; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 8 brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Rev. David Bigley officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 5 to 8 PM Monday, June 11, 2018 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society.

He served his country from 1944 to 1946 in the United States Navy and was a Aerial Gunner. After the service he moved to Hawthorne, California and began his career in Aerospace and worked for 28 years in Hawthorne and Palm Dale, CA. He supervised different stages of the Apollo Rockets. He married Patricia Cofield on May 6, 1944 . He retired May 31, 1974 and moved to Rockford, NE. He moved into the old Rockford School House and remodeled it. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and taking care of his home. They moved to San Marcos, CA in 1984.
