Frazier", wife of James, living in Jackson Township in 1920, when Fern Cornelius was listed as being single and living with her father in Zanesville. DLB 2017.

     George Cornelius was born on 28 August 1828 at Muskingum Co., OH.1 He was the son of Christopher Cornelius and Susannah Jack. George Cornelius married Margaret Eckelberry, daughter of Henry Eckelberry and Margaret Wilson, on 24 June 1849 at Muskingum Co., OH, by the Otsego Methodist Church minister. George Cornelius lived in 1860 at Monroe Twp., Muskingum Co., OH.1 He died on 10 November 1896 at Daviess Co., MO, at age 68 Civil War Veteran

Corporal in Company F, 2nd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was enrolled Sept. 3, 1861 at Zanesville, Ohio in the 191st OVI, Co. D for 3 years. Discharged at Columbus, Ohio Dec. 29, 1862. Returned to service on August 25, 1862 with a notation "detained by sickness and low water". Hospitalized at Parkersburg, West Virginia from mid Oct. 1862 and then next at Camp Chase, Ohio from Dec. 15-29, 1862 while in service. He contracted rheumatism from long exposures to cold weather while in the war. Honorably discharged in Columbus, OH Dec. 29, 1863. Lived in Muskingum County until June 1, 1868, then moved to Caldwell County, MO living there until about March 11, 1885 when he moved into Daviess Co., MO where he remained until his death. Height 5' 8", with fair complexion, dark hair, blue eyes.

     George Washington Cornelius was born on 22 February 1927 at Newcomerstown, Tuscarawas Co., OH. He was the son of Benjamin N. Cornelius and Amanda Parks. George Washington Cornelius died on 10 July 2005 at Coshocton, Coshocton Co., OH, at age 78 Obituary:

WEST LAFAYETTE- George Washington Cornelius, 78, of 301 E. Seventh St., West Lafayette, died at 3:05 a.m. Sunday, July 10, 2005, at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 22, 1927, in Newcomerstown, to the late Benjamin and Amanda (Parks) Cornelius.

He was raised in Boden and resided in West Lafayette for 61 years. He was employed for many years at Moore Enameling Co./Penn Michigan in West Lafayette. He was an active member of New Life Ministries in Coshocton where he served as an usher/greeter for 17 years.

On Jan. 21, 1961, he married Daisy Ruth (Countryman) Cornelius, who survives.

He is also survived by daughter, Jo Ellen Cornelius-Daugherty of Coshocton; three grandchildren, William James Daugherty of Coshocton, Tanya Jean (Michael) Dovenbarger of Newark, and Georgina Rochelle Bearden of Newark; six great-grandchildren, Arron James Daugherty, Anthony Duane Evans Jr., Alexis Marie Dorsey, Brianna Nicole Dorsey, Desiree Alannah Evans and Bryce Alexander Bearden; brother, David Earl Cornelius of Coshocton; and sister, Betty Bridges of West Lafayette.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Cornelius.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 14, at Given-Dawson Funeral Home in Coshocton, with Pastor Mark Granger officiating. Burial will be at Fairfield Cemetery in West Lafayette.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at the funeral home.

1860 census, Knox Co. IL, shows age 44 (equates to 1816 birth year.) She was the daughter of Isaac Cornelius and Barbara (?) Hannah Cornelius married James Wortman on 15 October 1840 at Muskingum Co., OH. Hannah Cornelius died before 20 August 1870 at Knox or Tazewell Co., IL, Not in family in 1870 census.1

     Hayes Alexander Cornelius was born in October 1889. He was the son of Wilbur Orren Cornelius and Ida Margaret Love.
Note: Was fined in 1916 $1,000 for court costs, bail, and child support, which was paid by his father, Wilbur. Hayes was originally buried on the site of the St. Mihiel battlefield. Later was exhumed and reburied at the Red Cross Cemetary in France. Was once again exhumed and reinterred with full military honors at Otsego Methodist Church Cemetery in Ohio.

Hayes Alexander Cornelius died on 12 September 1918 at St. Mihiel, France, at age 28 Killed in action in France during WWI. Co. E, 6th Reg. Left his $10,000 life insurance policy to his parents - none to his child. He was buried at Otsego Methodist Church Cemetery, Otsego, Muskingum Co., OH.
