Doris Anthony Schum - SAVANNAH - On December 10, 2016 Doris Dellinger Anthony Schum work had been done here on earth and she joined her son, Rick Anthony, her husband, Gene Schum, her identical twin sister Dottie, and many other family and friends in heaven. Doris began her life on May 12, 1925 in Hilliard, Ohio and died peacefully at Hospice House surrounded by her family and the wonderful staff of Hospice Savannah. She married Richard Anthony and was blessed with two children, Rick Anthony and Debra Anthony Larson. She later married Gene Schum who became the love of her life, if only for a few short years. Family and friends were so much a part of Doris's life; she never knew a stranger and everyone loved her twinkling eyes and infectious smile. She loved her granddaughter, who called her grams, Stephanie Anthony Peace who married a handsome young man Jason Parker Peace. They blessed Doris with three beautiful great grandchildren, Parker, Lily and RJ. She came to live in Savannah only 10 years ago, and even though she was a Midwesterner, she came to fall in love with our beautiful city. She resided in Ardsley Park with her daughter Debra and son-in-law Greg Larson. She was a volunteer at Hospice Savannah providing help at Full Circle Grief and Loss, Hospice House and later signing all donor letters sent out by the Hospice Foundation. A special thank you goes out to our dear friend, Bobbi Hettler who was a constant companion for Doris, the wonderful staff at Hospice House, Dr. Kelly Erola, Dr. Julia Johnson and the many friends who have provided their prayers and support. A celebration of Doris's life is planned for December 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Gamble Funeral Service. Burial will take place in the spring in Columbus, Ohio where the family will be celebrating her love for the Ohio State Buckeyes. She was an avid sports fan and loved baseball and college football. Mr. Dellinger was born November 21, 1943 in Woodstock, son of the late Clyde E. and Esther Foltz Dellinger. He served in the United States Army in Korea. After serving in the Army, he graduated from J.M.U. Before retiring he was employed at Schenck’s Foods in Winchester. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Edinburg. He was also a long time Shenandoah County Historical Society member and also a former SCHS Board Member.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Myers Dellinger whom he married June 8, 1968. Also surviving are a daughter, Jessica Leigh Dellinger Tincher (Jeff) of Nashville, Tennessee; a son, Chris Dellinger (Virginia) of Edinburg; three sisters, Claudette Bergey of Waynesboro, Carolyn Miller and B.K. Mitchell both of Edinburg; a brother, Wilbur Dellinger of Gore; and two grandchildren, Eli Dellinger and Annika Dellinger.

A Memorial Service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Edinburg with Rev. Bob Jones officiating.
