She was preceded in death by her father.

KEWANEE - Robert D. Derr, 85, of Kewanee, died at 11:06 PM, Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 16 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday, September 15 at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.

Robert was born June 23, 1924 in La Plata, MO, the son of Mack and Verna (Windle) Derr. He married Anna Willey on October 31, 1948 in Kewanee. She survives, as do two sons, Larry D. Derr and John H. Derr Sr., both of Kewanee, two daughters, Becky (Leonard) Haberer of West Burlington, IA and Bobbie (Keith) Nebinger of Kewanee, a sister, Eudema Muir of Columbia, MO, twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a son, Terry Mack, a daughter, Sheri Lynn and a grandson, David.

He graduated from La Plata High School in 1942. He had served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theater obtaining the rank of Private First Class. He worked as a foreman at International Harvester until his retirement in 1982. Following his retirement he had worked at Farm King in Kewanee for 16 years. He was a lifetime member of the Kewanee VFW #8078 and a Past Commander and was also a 10 year member of the Kewanee Veterans Council. He enjoyed sports, fishing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.


He was buried in 2009 at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Rock Island Co., IL, Findagrave #42076452.

Jacob Bennett Derrick, pioneer resident of Takoma Park, Md., died yesterday at 3:15 o'clock at Garfield Hospital, after an illness of several months.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Takoma Presbyterian Chuch, Rev. Thomas C. Clark officiating, followed by Masonic services at the grave in Congressional Cemetery by Takoma Lodge, No. 29, F.A.A.M., of which he was a member.

Mr. Derrick was born April 7, 1866, in Newberry County, S.C. He came to this city in 1888 to accept a position in the dead letter office, which he held for 10 years. He then was promoted to the money order division serving for 29 years. At the time of his death he had been retired about two months, the last position he held being chief of the foreign postal service of the money order division.

Mr. Derrick moved to Takoma Park 33 years ago. He served several terms on the town council and was always actively interested in civilc affairs. He was a deacon and treasurer of Takoma Park Presbyterian Church at the time of his death. Mr. Derrick was for many years secretary and later treasurer of Takoma Lodge, No. 29, F.A.A.M., and in 1917 was worshipful master of the lodge. He was a member of Washington Commandery, No. 1, K.T., and Almas Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S; was worthy patron of Takoma Chapter, No. 12, Order of the Eastern Star, in 1914, and also a member of Good Will Commandery, No. 21, United Order of the Golden Cross.

He was buried in July 1928 at Congressional Cemetery, Washington, District of Columbia, Findagrave #106392010.

Her strong Christian faith and spirit brought joy to the lives of everyone she encountered. Her innate creative ability will be treasured through her many photographic and artistic talents.

Katelyn's family said she will always be remembered for her radiant beauty both inside and out‚ as well as her joy of life.

Dane of Sarasota; a stepsister‚ Judith Kaine of Atlanta‚ GA; a stepbrother‚ Daniel Kaine of Orlando‚ FL; maternal grandmother‚ Joyce Becker of Schwenksville; paternal grandparents‚ Mr. and Mrs. James L. Derstine of Hatfield; grandparents‚ Jane Becker of Boca Raton‚ FL‚ and Dr. and Mrs. Henry Kaine of Bloomfield Hills‚ MI; great-grandmother‚ Mary Derstine of Souderton; great-grandfather‚ Robert C. Bucher of Harleysville; and 12 aunts‚ 11 uncles‚ 37 cousins‚ and countless friends‚ who all loved her.

A celebration of life will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Church of the Palms-Presbyterian. Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, is in charge.
