     Philip DeWald was born on 6 November 1764 at Palatinate, Germany, Note in James Larimore family Bible. He was the son of Henrich DeWald and Maria Catherine Greaver. Philip DeWald married Catharine Lang, daughter of Killian Lang and Rosina Scheit, circa 1785 at York Co. (probably), PA. Philip DeWald lived circa 1803 at Baltimore, MD, relocated from York County to Baltimore. He lived in 1810 at Three Churches, Hampshire Co., VA (now WV), bought land which was adjacent to the James Larimore property on Jersey Mountain. He died on 8 February 1844 at Hampshire Co., VA (now WV), at age 79 Note in James Larimore family Bible. He was buried in February 1844 at Jersey Mountain, Three Churches, Hampshire Co., VA (now WV), According to family legend.

     Tulen Estelle DeWald was born on 11 January 1873. She was the daughter of William Valentine DeWald and Mary Ann Ruble. Tulen Estelle DeWald married Franklin Boone Shortridge, son of James Henderson Shortridge and Amelia Savannah Adams, after June 1900 at Lane Co. (probably), OR, no children born to this marriage. Tulen Estelle DeWald died on 28 March 1928 at age 55. She was buried in 1928 at Cottage Grove, Lane Co., OR.

Valentine DeWald1

M, b. 1776, d. 10 August 1842
     Valentine DeWald was also known as "Felty". He was born in 1776 at Hanover, York Co., PA. He was the son of Henrich DeWald and Maria Catherine Greaver.
Note: Settled in Washington County, Tennessee with his brother Frederick, who married Valentine's wife's sister Margaret. Valentine and Frederick jointly inherited 637 acres of land which their father had purchased from a John Been.

Valentine DeWald married Susannah Range, daughter of Peter Range and Elizabeth Ronimus, on 16 February 1804 at the home of the bride's parents, Knob Creek, Washington Co., TN. Valentine DeWald died on 10 August 1842 at DeVault's Ford, Washington Co., TN. Cause of death: on 10 August 1842 Typhoid Fever. He was buried in August 1842 at DeVault's Ford, Washington Co., TN.

Occupation: Farming and carpentry, McCook Co., SD. William Montgomery DeWald died on 18 June 1937 at Montrose, McCook Co., SD, at age 74. He was buried in June 1937 at Montrose, McCook Co., SD.

William Valentine DeWald

M, b. 9 April 1837, d. 13 January 1913
     Note: In Tennessee William had grist mill, farm and store; in his spare time he was a carpenter and cabinet maker. In 1882 the family (children aged 7-22) left for Albert Lea, Minnesota where Ruble kin were established; then went on straight west to Dakota Territory (McCook County) where they bought what has since proved to be choice land, and on 800 acres they made a new home. They could have survived financially and prospered in spite of hazards of climate, prairie fires and pests, but they could not survive the local prejudice again William having been a Confederate soldier. A "shyster" lawyer found an "error" in the title and they lost everything. In the meantime their son, Henry, had gone farther west to Canyonville, Douglas County, Oregon, where Tennessee relatives (Kitzmiller/Hughes) had settled and pronounced the prospects "good," and William Valentine and the family with exception of two eldest sons moved to Canyonville and the Umpqua Valley, and soon after that to Cottage Grove where they had a fine home and a grocery store the last 15 years of their lives.

William Valentine DeWald was born on 9 April 1837 at Washington Co., TN. He was the son of Daniel DeWald and Mary M. Miller. William Valentine DeWald married Mary Ann Ruble, daughter of Rev. Henry Edward Ruble and Phoebe Ann Hunter, on 27 December 1859. William Valentine DeWald began military service Confederate Army, Civil War. He lived in 1882 at Albert Lea, Freeborn Co., MN. He died on 13 January 1913 at Cottage Grove, Lane Co., OR, at age 75. He was buried in January 1913 at Masonic Cemetery, Cottage Grove, Lane Co., OR.

He married Magdalena Kitzmiller, daughter of Johann Jacob Kitzmiller and Anna Elizabeth Selle, in 1790.
