Thelma was born March 10, 1916 in East St. Louis, the daughter of Jacob and Ruth Dour; both preceded her in death.
Thelma graduated from East St. Louis High School in 1934. She attended Summers Business College and earned a degree in Senior Secretarial Management. Thelma worked at St. Clair Finance Company from 1935 to 1942. In 1963, Thelma worked for Club Aluminum Products Company. She was the Secretary to Treasurer of the company until 1968. Thelma was a member of the East St. Louis Junior Women's Club, Beta Sigma Phi life member. Thelma was active in her church community throughout her life, where she held various positions.
She married Ray C. Arnold on January 17, 1947 and they had one daughter, Karen Lee. Thelma was known for her wicked sense of humor and friends would comment how she lit up any room she entered. She enjoyed music and took piano lessons as a child at the Lieber School of Music during the Depression. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of several bridge clubs throughout her life.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray C. Arnold; her sister, Annabelle Crow; and brother, Harold Dour.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Briscoe, of St. Charles, MO; grandchildren, Tere Brun of Apopka, FL and Alison Briscoe of Bayside, TX; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews across the country.
Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
