Kempe. Crawford remarried to Dorothy Idella Walker in 1954 in Indiana and later remarried to Elizabeth (Vaughn) Gillespie in 1957 at Baker City, Oregon. Crawford H. Earley lived on 3 May 1940 at Green Camp Twp., Marion Co., OH, steelworker at Pollak Steel.¹ He and Ida Marie Wendell were divorced before April 1950. Crawford H. She attended Moses Lake High School and graduated there. She married Marvin Pace in 1950. Together they had four (4) children: Mark, Gary, Vickie, and Robyn. Joan loved photography, dancing the jitterbug, roller-skating and camping with her family. Later in life she loved to spend time gambling at the casino, tending to her dogs and horses, and playing cards. She will be missed dearly.

VICTOR – Mary Jane Segar, 76, of Victor, passed away at her home with her family Feb. 14, 2010.

She was born April 25, 1933 to Crawford and Ida Earley.

On Sept. 30, 1964 she married Joseph W. Segar in Tacoma, Wash.

Mary enjoyed knitting, sewing, fishing, bowling and roses. She also loved to watch the birds and deer in her yard.

She ran a daycare for 11 years before moving to Montana in 1996.

Mom was a very loving and caring person who would think of others before herself. Supporting her kids in whatever activity we were in.

She is preceded in death by her parents and grandchild, Conner William.

     Robert Earley married Huldah Swaim.

     Wrendell Wilbur Earley was born on 2 April 1929. He began military service WW II service. He died on 17 November 2004 at Wilmington, Clinton Co., OH, at age 75.

     Bobby Lynn Earls was born on 23 May 1952 at Detroit, Wayne Co., MI. He began military service Vietnam War service, U.S. Army. He died on 31 March 2016 at Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co., TN, at age 63

     Effie Lee Earman began military service on 8 April 1864 at Mustered in, Rockingham Co., VA. She was born on 1 December 1878 at Penn Laird, Rockingham Co., VA. She was the daughter of James K. Polk Earman and Margaret Elizabeth Carpenter. Effie Lee Earman married Adam Louis Harrison, son of Robert Allen Harrison and Mary Frances Long, on 7 April 1901 at Harrisonburg, Rockingham Co., VA. Effie Lee Earman died on 28 March 1962 at age 83.

His marriage license says age 23 in 1869, that would mean that he was born in 1846. His death certificate says that he was born June 9, 1947 and died August 19, 1916. His tombstone says that he was born June 9, 1845 and died August 22, 1916. There is also a note made by his daughter giving his birth year as 1846.

Dr. Charles Rhea Earnest, 78, of G'Fellers Road, Chuckey, formerly of Knoxville, died Monday morning at his home.

Dr. Earnest was a widely-known Knoxville physician, having practiced 50 years before retiring in November 1997.

He was a 1938 graduate of what was then Knoxville High School. He was a 1942 graduate of the University of Tennessee of Knoxville and a 1944 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis.

Upon completion of medical school, Dr. Earnest entered the U.S. Navy as a ship doctor. He was discharged in 1946 and entered Ohio State University to serve an internship.

He began practice of general medicine in Knoxville on July 1, 1949.

Those close to him said that Dr. Ernest's life centered around his patients, to whom he was very devoted.

He was a son of the late Bonnie (Johnson) and Charles Rhea Earnest Sr., and a direct descendant of Felix Earnest, who fought at King's Mountain as a lieutenant under John Sevier.

He was preceded in death by three sisters: Barbara Main, Carolyn Earnest, and Virginia Earnest; and a brother: Robert Isaac Earnest.

     Howard Hoyle Earnest was born on 22 June 1923 at Knoxville, Knox Co., TN.¹ He was the son of Charles Rhea Earnest and Bonnie Harrison Johnson.¹ Howard Hoyle Earnest married Luella Lovin, daughter of John Harvey Lovin and Pearl Anna Young, circa 1944. He was born June 22, 1923, in Knoxville, and was a son of the late Bonnie (Johnson) and Charles Rhea Earnest Sr.

Mr. Earnest was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, working on PT boats in the South Pacific.

Following his service in World War II, he returned to the family farm in Chuckey.

Mr. Earnest was a farmer and retired from the TWRA (Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency) as supervisor in District 1.

After retirement, he became an outdoor writer for the Johnson City Press.

Mr. Earnest was a member of Greeneville Lodge No. 3, F&AM.

"He loved the outdoors, nature, and wildlife. He was very proud of his family, whom he loved deeply," the family noted.

He was the widower of Luella Lovin Earnest, his wife of 64 years who died Aug. 7, 2008.

He was preceded in death by three sisters: Barbara Main, Louise Earnest, and Virginia Earnest; and two brothers: Robert Earnest and Charlie Earnest.

     Dr. Howard Hoyle Earnest Jr. was born on 20 June 1951 at Knoxville, Knox Co., TN. He was the son of Howard Hoyle Earnest and Luella Lovin. Dr. Howard Hoyle Earnest Jr. died on 24 July 2014 at Normal, McLean Co., IL, at age 63 Obituary (findagrave.com):

He was born June 20, 1951 in Knoxville, Tennessee, the son of Howard Hoyle and Luella Lovin Earnest Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents. He married Dr. Kathryn Sampeck on July 20, 1991 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Chuckey, Tennessee. She survives.

Also surviving are his five children, Sarah McIlvaine, Kathryne, Isaac, Henry and Samuel Earnest and his sister, Laura (Daniel) Leatherwood.

He earned his B.A. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 1973, graduating with high honors and elected into the Phi Beta Kappa honorary fraternity. Howard was awarded a M.A. (1975) and a Ph.D. (1999) in anthropology from Harvard University as a student of Gordon Willey. He completed this graduate work with funding from a research grant from the Department of Anthropology, Harvard University; a USIA Academic Specialist Fellowship; a CIES Fulbright Senior Scholar Grant; a National Science Foundation Dissertation Improvement Grant; and a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship, from 1973 to 1976.

Howard did archaeological fieldwork in many parts of Latin America, including the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico; El Salvador; the Maya city of Copan, Honduras; and Tiwanaku, Bolivia. He was the forest archaeologist in the Cherokee National Forest for 15 years and surveyed and excavated at numerous archaeological sites in the Appalachian area and lower Louisiana. He taught Spanish courses at Tulane University, then taught Spanish at Holy Name of Mary Elementary, St. Joan of Arc Elementary, and Edna Karr High School in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Since moving to Illinois, Dr. Earnest taught anthropology courses at ISU and archaeology at IWU. He devoted his expertise to helping organize and classify the archaeological collections at IWU and the McLean County Museum of History.
